We are seeking a skilled Engineering Planner to join our Engineering Department at Myton Food Group’s Greenside Manufacturing site.
In this role, you will primarily focus on the financial planning and budgeting of the Engineering Department, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and supporting the smooth operation of the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, monitor, and manage the Engineering Department’s budgets and financial plans. li>Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure projects and maintenance activities are cost-effective and delivered within budget.
- Analyse expenditure and performance data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve budget forecasting accuracy.
- Prepare regular financial reports and provide insights and recommendations to Engineering leadership.
- Support procurement and inventory management to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to budgets, spending, and forecasts.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure financial plans support production and operational goals.
About You
Requirements
- Proven experience in engineering planning, budgeting, or financial analysis within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food production.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with budgeting or planning software.
- Attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Engineering Geologist to join our experienced team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Sheffield, supporting projects across the UK. You will work on a diverse range of geotechnical and land contamination projects spanning sectors such as energy, infrastructure, renewable energy, development/regeneration, and local authorities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to impactful projects in a supportive and professional environment.
Responsibilities
As an Engineering Geologist , your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in accordance with national standards and codes of practice.
- Managing fieldwork activities, including supervising drilling and excavation works, gas and groundwater monitoring, groundwater sampling, and surface water sampling. You will also log rocks and soils and perform in situ testing.
- Supervising remediation and earthworks projects, ensuring compliance with approved specifications, and liaising with contractors.
- Assisting project managers in planning new projects, including liaising with subcontractors and suppliers and preparing health, safety, environment, and quality documentation.
- Scheduling soil, rock, and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing.
- Splitting your time approximately 50/40 between site work and office-based tasks, with occasional travel and overnight stays for distant projects.
- Writing factual and interpretative reports.
- Supporting managers in preparing fee proposals.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A BSc degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience supervising windowless sampling, trial pitting, and managing subcontractors and on-site safety.
- Rock core logging capabilities (advantageous but not essential).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Strong multitasking, planning, and prioritisation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Openground logging software (advantageous but not essential).
- A proactive approach to professional development, with current or aspiring membership of a relevant professional body.
- A full manual UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Day-to-Day
Your daily activities will involve:
- Conducting site investigations and supervising fieldwork activities.
- Collaborating with contractors and project managers to ensure project success.
- Preparing and reviewing reports and documentation.
- Balancing time between fieldwork and office-based tasks.
- Engaging in professional development and contributing to team initiatives.

We are looking for an Engineering Geologist to join the team in Sheffield. You will get the chance to work on a range of different projects from large infrastructure to residential.
You will be involved in a variety of different responsibilities from office to site.
