  • Our client is a contractor who has been operating for over 70 years across the UK working across a number of Joint Ventures, Public-Private Partnerships and alternative forms of contract on well-known and celebrated projects;

What you'll be doing:

  • The successful Project Manager will be working on the heavy civil engineering projects such as BESS, wind farms or substations across the North East of England;
  • Manage the daily operations on site and ensure project timescales are met within a safe and accurate fashion,
  • Reporting weekly to the Contracts Manager on key aspects of progress issues and concerns,
  • Contribute and help to ensure that success throughout all projects is achieved by delivering the programme on time,
  • Support Site Agents on site,
  • Any other project management duties as required.


What you'll need to be successful:

  • Ideally, the candidate will be degree-educated within civil engineering;
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Project Manager;
  • Previous earthworks experience in civil engineering projects is VERY desirable, NEC and Microsoft Project experience is essential;
  • Flexibility on location is essential;
  • Valid CSCS, SMSTS, is essential.

  • Will be working permanent day shift Monday-Thursday.
  • Interpret engineering drawings.
  • Polishing finished components to a range of standards including standard eighty-grit belt finish to sateen, super sateen and mirror.
  • Use polishing equipment to polish radius of components.
  • Use inspection equipment such as verniers, micrometers, PI tapes.
  • Inspection of goods in, goods out, sub contract work and all purchased parts.
  • In process and finished goods inspection.
  • Process auditing.
  • Signing first and last inspection reports.
  • Reporting of non-conforming parts.
  • Ensure zero defects reach end user.
  • Entering technical data on to computer spread sheet package.

The Person

  • Must have previous polishing experience in an engineering company.
  • Experience of building special purpose equipment.
  • Experience in engineering.
  • Ability to read assembly/technical documentation such as drawings and work instructions.
  • Adhere to manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).

Education & Experience

  • HNC (or higher) in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Chemical.
  • Experience in project roles within engineering or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction andprocess industries.
  • Understanding of control systems and directives.
  • Proven ability in change management and project planning.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
