We’re looking for a motivated Geo-Environmental Consultant to contribute to a wide range of development and infrastructure projects across the UK.


The Role

As a Geo-Environmental Consultant, you’ll play a key role in the delivery of site investigations, land quality assessments, and remediation design. Working alongside experienced engineers and environmental specialists, you’ll gain exposure to diverse projects and develop your technical and project management skills.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, supervising, and managing ground investigations, including soil, groundwater, and gas monitoring.
  • Preparing factual and interpretive reports and conducting environmental risk assessments.
  • Supporting the development of remediation strategies and sustainable brownfield solutions.
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated design solutions.
  • Contributing to team growth and mentoring junior staff as appropriate.


About You

You’ll have a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related subject , and 2+ years experience in a geo-environmental or contaminated land consultancy environment.


You’ll also bring:

  • Experience in factual and interpretive reporting and a solid understanding of site investigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of current guidance and standards (e.g. BS10175, BS5930, CLR11, CIRIA publications).
  • Strong data interpretation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to working in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Progress toward or interest in professional registration (e.g. CGeol, SiLC, IEMA).

**ABOUT YOU**
You will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Environmental Management, Environmental Assessment, Environmental Science or Environmental Planning, which is accredited by the relevant professional body (CIWEM, IEMA or RTPI).

With a strong pipeline of confirmed work moving into 2026, we have an opportunity for several Site Engineers (Geo-environmental) to join our team. This role is specifically to support large scale ground investigations and will require a large proportion of working on site and travelling within the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of projects, working closely with and being supported by team members, project managers and project directors. Activities will typically include groundwater monitoring and supervision of contractors (e.g. drill rigs).
The role will be predominately site based. Site works are dependent on active projects with travel to and working on sites across the whole of the UK.
**Your Team**
The post will be within our Ground & Water team which is a service line in WSP's Earth & Environment business.
Our team of over 180 professionals at all grades provides land contamination management services to private and public sector clients in the property, government agency, industrial, defence and nuclear sectors. We have expertise across all aspects of contaminated land meaning we have the means to support and develop career development. We have several exciting projects in the pipeline including supporting with the energy transition, infrastructure and nuclear decommissioning.
**The Key Responsibilities**
+ Completion of groundwater monitoring.
+ Supervision of site investigations.
+ Supervision of field work including soil logging and environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling and ground gas monitoring.
+ Data collation.
+ Ensuring that all work is delivered in line with procedures and to the highest safety, health and environmental standards
**Experience**
+ Knowledge of the requirements for planning, and supervision of site investigations
+ Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and their application to safe design and implementation of site investigations
+ Data handling, including experience in the use of GIS is desirable
**We're looking for someone who:**
+ Has a full UK driving licence (or equivalent) - this is essential to the role
+ Is comfortable working on-site
