Successful manufacturing company based in Basildon, Essex are recruiting for an experienced Finance Assistant. As a Finance Assistant you will support the financial operations of the organisation by assisting with various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance department.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers and journals, to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely manner while ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Support month-end closing activities by reconciling accounts and preparing necessary documentation.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance efficiency within the finance department.
AAT qualification would be an advantage but not essential. More important is relevant hands on experience in a similar role. Experience in finance within the manufacturing sector would be an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Working hours 8am-4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 3.30pm finish on Fridays
Ideally you will reside local to Basildon or have your own transport (company is based out on an industrial estate)

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for delivering statutory financial reporting, managing tax compliance, and overseeing payroll and capital accounting functions. You'll coordinate inputs across the organisation to produce accurate statutory accounts, ensure balance sheet control, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading statutory and regulatory reporting, including year-end audit deliverables

What you'll need to succeed
