The outputs give top investors and occupiers access to clear insights on market behaviors to inform their real estate investment decisions. We are looking for someone to help in developing the next generation of models, visualizations and text insights.
You will be joining a small team of economists/econometricians. You will be required to use your economic and econometrics skills to improve and design models as well as explaining to non-experts "what it all means" in terms of the complex relationships between the economy and real estate performance. Your work will directly enhance the European Research offering used by investors, occupiers, and CBRE transaction professionals as they make decisions or recommendations around managing real estate portfolios. We expect you to be able to talk and write coherently on economic matters within the context of commercial real estate.
**Ideal Candidate:**
Successful candidates must be able to maintain quarterly forecasting workflows, apply regular tests to achieve continuous model improvement, analyze relevant data and market intelligence to input substantially into the team's quarterly presentations, reports and commentary.
**What You'll Do:**
· Support the team with quarterly property forecasts and model improvement along with business discussions on trends and considerations.
· Help to write regular economic and property market commentary and be seen as the go-to for forward-looking performance in your sector.
· Author and/or co-author expert commentary and insightful thought pieces that position CBRE as a leading voice in the industry guiding transformational outcomes for investors and occupiers.
· Help the team to create views and forecasts on alternative sectors within the real estate sector.
· Understand and maintain relevant economic and property datasets.
· Input actively to research aimed at improving CBRE's data methodologies.
· Liaise with company sector specialists and research teams on data and forecasts, incorporate sentiment from key internal stakeholders.
· Produce and present forecasting outputs to internal stakeholders and external clients.
· Lead consultancy projects related to forecasting and/or other quantitative techniques.
· Work closely with other economists and data scientists, collaborate on research and development projects and continuous econometric model improvement.
**What You'll Need:**
· An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics/finance/statistics or a related discipline with a high numerical content. PhD students with commercial experience will be considered.
· Experience as an economist/forecaster (experience in quantitative analysis would be an advantage) is a plus.
· Experience in property research in a consultancy, investment management, banking or finance would be an advantage but not critical.
· Strong organizational and analytical skills, able to demonstrate good time management skills.
· Ability to work well under pressure, with multiple/competing deadlines.
· Strong quantitative and analytical skills particularly in econometrics.
· Experience of using EViews (or similar) and/or other statistical packages (e.g., STATA, R, SQL and Python would be an advantage).
· Experience of working with Tableau, Power BI and other visualization software an advantage.
· A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English plus one other European language would be an advantage.
· Self-motivated, strong attention to detail and an ability to check own work.
· A critical thinker.
**Why CBRE**
When you join CBRE, you become part of the global leader in commercial real estate services and investment that helps businesses and people thrive. We are dynamic problem solvers and forward-thinking professionals who create significant impact. Our collaborative culture is built on our shared values - respect, integrity, service and excellence - and we value the diverse perspectives, backgrounds and skillsets of our people.
