The successful candidate will work closely with a variety of stakeholders across functions (data center procurement, business development / real estate, construction, engineering, program managers, supply chain, data center operations, other finance teams) to drive projects and initiatives where they can demonstrate their strong judgment, and leadership. This role requires a self-starter who can leverage their analytical/technical skills and attention to detail to drive the business.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as part of the regional leadership team responsible for delivering high quality and robust decisions with favorable business outcomes.
- Become subject matter expert for data center development and construction including cost drivers, pertinent technology, vendors, customers served, and regional nuances.
- Establish annual/monthly performance targets, analyze variances to plan, and communicate key messages to senior leadership.
- Pinpoint defects or waste in processes, and drive new processes and automation to eliminate the defects and prevent them from recurring.
- Identify and lead cost savings initiatives.
- Data center capital expenditure approvals.
- Support forecasting and month end activities across the team and specific regions
- Identify opportunities to improve on the tools and processes to support finance team and our business partners
A day in the life
Reviewing business development proposals and converting deal requirements into financial models, to help reviewing its performance vs benchmarks and vs goals. Be able to dive deep into deal specifics to help business identify commercial opportunities to reduce overall cost of deployment and better use of AWS assets.
Learn, understand and challenge design decisions and seek best in class financial support for our business partners to determine design plans for upcoming project.
About the team
Our team is a high impact finance unit which supports EMEA leaders in delivering lowest cost of data center capacity for our customers. We help business to make the best decisions for our customers and to never constrain our business to serve our clients.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)
- Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
- Experience in accounts receivable or account payable
- Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis
- Experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes
- Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence
- Experience as a lean sensei, or experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of Tableau
- Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
