Job Description
Product development and coding are at an inflection point. Progress on LLMs ability to assist and even automate large chunks of product development has been significant. The job of a cutting edge software engineer will look very different in a years time. Every few weeks there is another step forward with a new model or tool. External companies (in particular start ups) operate in a much simpler environment (often greenfield) and can take advantage of these tools much more easily and are driving significant productivity gains. We need to make Meta a place where we can also gain from this progress. There are 3 stages in this journey:Stage 1: work in tandem with an assistantStage 2: check in every few hours with a pod of agentsStage 3: oversee an intelligent ecosystem of agentsMany teams at Meta are at Stage 1 - working with an assistant (Claude, Devmate). Frontier companies (Anthropic, Replit, Mercor) are already proving Stage 2/3: pods of agents and intelligent ecosystems driving 10× gains. The AI Natives team will take Meta from stage 1 to stage 3. We will do this by building products (starting with internal tools) at the cutting edge of what is possible in Meta now and fixing (as well as inputing and prioritising roadmaps in other parts of the company) anything thats preventing us from moving up the stages. As an engineer you will learn and then operate at the cutting edge of whats possible in the world at any time.Come and join this small and senior team and turbo charge Meta and your own capabilities! You will have experience as an "AI Native". This means you will be using AI tools to build the vast majority of software in your current role. You will be managing agents to accomplish tasks for you whenever possible. You will be fighting with context windows and prompts and understand how to get the best out of tools like cursor and claude code
