The ideal candidate for the Legal Counsel (Professional Indemnity) would be a qualified solicitor with a strong background in civil or commercial litigation, ideally with experience in professional negligence or similar disputes.
As Legal Counsel (Professional Indemnity) you will work closely with the Head of Professional Liability and broader General Counsel function.
Key Responsibilities for the Legal Counsel (Professional Indemnity) role:
- Assist in the coordination and handling of professional liability and other claims made against the firm, including investigating allegations and supporting the drafting of responses.

- Liaise with external counsel on complex claims where required.
- Maintain detailed records of claims and complaints, managing associated deadlines and action points.
- Engage with the Legal Ombudsman in relation to complaints and resolutions.
- Support the notification of claims to insurers and help facilitate the renewal process for professional indemnity and broader insurance policies.
- Contribute to internal and regulatory investigations as directed by the General Counsel.
- Provide support on other contentious issues that may arise, including disputes involving third-party suppliers or vendors.
- Help ensure the firm meets its regulatory obligations, including compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with a minimum of 5–7 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Strong background in civil or commercial litigation, ideally with experience in professional negligence or similar disputes.
- Previous involvement in professional liability matters, particularly involving legal services, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with legal insurance coverage and related advisory work is an advantage.

Our client is an international law firm with an outstanding reputation for excellence, headquartered in the City of London and offices across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
It is currently experiencing growth on a global scale, and the infrastructure is growing to support it.

The wider team has 12 lawyers and 3 paralegals advising on all aspects of legal risk, financial crime, complaint, data privacy and regulation. You will be working directly for the Head of Professional Liability and handling a wide range of issues including assessing and tracking client complaints, dealing with insurance notifications, helping with insurance renewals, liaising with the SRA and Legal Ombudsman and managing claims. On more complex contentious matters, you will also need to instruct and liaise with outside counsel.
This is an interesting and busy role, and we are seeking a lawyer who can hit the ground running. You must be a qualified lawyer with 3+ years’ PQE in professional liability and professional negligence. Experience of advising in-house is an advantage but not essential. We are seeking an individual who is robust, has the ability to work independently, has a can-do attitude and is self-motivated. As the role will expose you to a wide range of fee-earners, senior stakeholders and external third parties we are seeking strong communication skills and confidence for building relationships.
The firm operates a hybrid policy of 60% in the office (3 days a week) and this role will be based in the London office.

We're looking for a motivated individual to join our Legal team, focusing on property damage losses arising from major fires, floods, building collapse, escape of water, and subsidence.
We're looking for an experienced and proactive legal professional to join our growing team as a Costs Manager, specialising in fixed costs claims. In this role, you'll manage your own caseload from start to finish, resolving disputes efficiently and in line with Civil Procedure Rules, while maintaining a strong focus on client service.
This opportunity is ideal for someone already working in legal costs or a civil litigator looking to specialise and take on more responsibility. As the team expands, you'll also have the chance to supervise junior colleagues and contribute to broader costs-related projects and strategy.
You'll use your legal expertise to build strong arguments, negotiate settlements, and recover costs effectively. A key part of the role involves securing early payments on account to support financial flow and ensure smooth case progression. Alongside your casework, you'll help train the wider team on costs issues and contribute to fee-earning work as a specialist in your own right.
