We are now recruiting for a Logistics Operative to work as part of a team servicing production, picking and packing finished goods and raw materials alongside ensuring the highest standards of service are consistently delivered.
As our Logistics Operative you will be responsible for:
- Operating in line with site health and safety, environmental and quality standards. li>Operating warehousing equipment safely, including forklift trucks.
- Identifying and promptly reporting any problems or faults relating to your area.
- Ensuring shift handover documentation is filled in and signed at the relevant times.
- Scanning and unwrapping pallets,
- Issuing film to the presses in line with the order requirements and the print plan.
- Removing all RTS reels from the print presses, weighing and recording the weight, strapping and placing in the RTS holding location.
- Emptying all bailers and skips on the factory floor.
- Emptying the cardboard skip on the shop floor and removing unused 6” cores from shop floor. < i>Keeping Hall 3 and yard clear and tidy, brushing walkways.
- Wrapping, strapping and booking in Finished Goods.
- Loading and unloading deliveries using a forklift truck, Electronic Pallet Truck or Bendi Truck.
In order to be successful in this role you must have / be:
- Licenced Forklift Truck driver – Counterbalance, Bendi & Powered Pallet Trucks. < i>Good level of numeracy & literacy.
- Previous experience within a busy manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Some experience of basic administration/record keeping.
- Good computer/ administration skills.
- Exposure to quality, health, safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting.
The site operates a 24/7 shift system spread over four-week pattern. A willingness to work a shift pattern covering days, nights and weekends is essential.
The role operates 12-hour shifts across a 4-week Continental shift pattern:
- li>Week 1 – 4 nights, 3 off < i>Week 2 – 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights < i>Week 3 – 3 off, 4 days < i>Week 4 – 7 off

About the role.
To be responsible for the people (team of 10-15), safety, quality, cost control and delivery of plan in designated area of warehouse/despatch/logistics/end of line/perimeter/grounds/staff shop, and to ensure that others within the area fulfil their responsibilities. Always ensuring these duties are completed in line with Company policies and standard operating procedures, including PPE, Food Safety, Health and Safety, 'clean as you go' and 'Good Manufacturing Practices'.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure optimum deployment of people across the area of remit, matching skills to tasks and schedules, and ensuring that breaks are co-ordinated effectively to achieve continuous running.
- Monitor performance and operational efficiency across area of remit continuously to ensure operating to optimum efficiency, and identify trends, root causes and implement corrective actions. Attend meetings to report on performance escalating any issues to a supervisor/manager and reporting back to the team.
- Responsibility for the health and safety of colleagues, contractors and visitors across area of remit, ensuring adherence to policies and operating procedures, safe systems of work, equipment and machinery user manuals (see appendix on Team Leaders' Health and Safety responsibilities).
- Oversee and co-ordinate efficient inbound and outbound logistics, including the supply, replenishment and transportation of goods, materials, equipment and packaging to factory production, as per schedule, and the distribution of finished products in line with plan and quality standards.
- Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of grounds, yard and perimeter, ensuring areas are healthy, safe, efficiently organised and have clean and tidy appearance at all times.
- Supplier and contractor management for equipment and third party services within area of remit.
- Ensure the completion of all relevant checks, including start-up checks and associated Process Control (including CCP documentation), accurately and within specified time frames, using required systems and documentation to check, record and action.
- Manage and maintain appropriate records, inventories and systems for the purposes of maintaining supplies to production, providing written support and/or conveying information, including KPI and shift reports, ensuring all relevant databases, spreadsheets and other software are kept up to date.
- Evaluate situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action and respond to calls, concerns and/or complaints for the purpose of resolving problems and communicating/providing information. Directly communicate with supervisor/manager about any delays in deliveries and shortages of products.
- Oversee, co-ordinate and assist with start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers by ensuring the appropriate completion of required checks and processes.
- Update procedures on request and brief colleagues in any changes to documents and/or processes.
- Brief, train and assess staff
- Ensure maintenance of standards in relation to colleague conduct, behaviour and attendance, through clear instruction, guidance, coaching and welfare support, but also utilising related policies and procedures as required.

- Forklift Experience and Licences (ideally both Reach and Counterbalance but training / courses can be provided for the correct candidate)
- Systems experience on Protean, WMS (Basic), Qlik View (Variance), Red Zone, CARE, Olympus are all advantageous.
