Responsibilities include developing control strategies, writing and debugging PLC code, configuring robotic cells, and performing system testing and commissioning. You will also play a crucial role in troubleshooting complex automation issues, providing technical support to production teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, strong programming skills in various automation platforms, and a proven ability to manage projects effectively. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing automation solutions are essential. This role offers a dynamic work environment where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and IT, to achieve strategic business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing and developing industrial automation solutions using PLCs, robotics, and SCADA systems.
  • Programming, configuring, and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Integrating robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, KUKA) into manufacturing processes.
  • Developing and implementing HMI/SCADA solutions for process visualization and control.
  • Leading the commissioning and validation of new automation equipment and systems.
  • Providing expert technical support and troubleshooting for existing automation infrastructure.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed design documentation, including electrical schematics and logic diagrams.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing automation upgrades.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions.
  • Ensuring all automation designs and implementations comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Mentoring junior automation engineers and technicians.
  • Managing automation projects, including scope definition, budgeting, and timeline management.

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A minimum of 6-8 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation engineering, with a strong emphasis on PLC programming, robotics, and HMI/SCADA systems, is essential. Experience with C++, Python, or other relevant programming languages is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are mandatory for this role. This hybrid position requires a presence in the London office for collaborative meetings and critical project phases, alongside flexible remote working arrangements.
