The role

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of child protection legislation, therapeutic interventions, and inter-agency working.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying needs and risks.
  • Develop, implement, and review care plans in collaboration with service users and relevant agencies.
  • Provide direct support and intervention to children and families, including crisis management and counselling.
  • Conduct child protection investigations, assessments, and court work as required.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of social workers, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Liaise effectively with other professionals, including health services, educational institutions, and legal representatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records in line with organisational policies and legal requirements.
  • Promote the rights and well-being of children and young people.
  • Represent the organisation in multi-agency forums and case conferences.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of social work services.
Qualifications:
  • BA or MA in Social Work (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social care, with demonstrable experience in a senior or supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act 1989 & 2004) and safeguarding procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and undertake statutory duties.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and intervention skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage challenging situations.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel within the local area is essential.
