**Job summary:**
Our rapidly growing Global Warehousing & Logistics business segment is at the forefront of delivering complex, high-value supply chain solutions to clients globally. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to join us as the **Director of Strategic Project Management.**
This is a critical role responsible for the successful execution and standardisation of new contract logistics facility launches and complex client implementations. Reporting directly to the SVP of Global Warehousing & Logistics, this role will lead the strategic planning, program management, and operational readiness for Iron Mountain's expanding footprint in contract logistics and on demand storage.
While focused initially on major implementations in the UK, this role will have a global remit, playing a pivotal part in Iron Mountain's new geographic market penetration strategies and launch of major implementations wherever they may be. Secondarily, the ideal candidate will bring a robust background in operational excellence, demonstrating a proven ability to support the definition and launch of comprehensive operational excellence programs within a contract logistics environment.
**Your role in our mission:**
**Lead Strategic Projects:** Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle for new logistics site implementations and major client integrations. Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
**Develop Methodologies:** Create and implement standardised project management methodologies and best practices specifically for our contract logistics launches and transformations.
**Manage Stakeholders:** Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, senior leadership, regional teams, and vendors, ensuring clear and timely communication.
**Drive Operational Excellence:** Collaborate with global teams to define and develop a scalable Operational Excellence programme. Help embed Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles into our daily operations.
**Scale Best Practices:** Lead initiatives to identify, standardise, and scale best practices across our global network.
**Team Leadership:** Potentially build and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, providing guidance and coaching to enhance our project implementation capabilities.
**Valued skills and experience:**
**Experience:** Progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehousing, in a strategic project management or implementation leadership role within a contract logistics or 3PL environment.
**Expertise:** Extensive experience with large-scale facility start-ups and client go-lives (greenfield, brownfield, and integration projects).
**Global Acumen:** Proven success in managing global or multi-national projects with diverse cultural and regulatory considerations.
**Skills:** Exceptional project and programme management skills with a strong understanding of methodologies (PMP, Prince2, or Agile certifications are highly desirable). Deep operational knowledge of logistics processes, WMS, and automation.
**Leadership:** A strategic thinker with strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, capable of influencing and collaborating effectively at all levels.
**Education:** A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities – Strategic Buyer
- Develop and manage relationships with the SMR garage network in line with current corporate strategy to drive continual improvement in supplier performance and network utilisation
- Manage key SMR supplier contracts, invoices and documentation for compliance with existing agreements (KPIs, SLAs, price)
- Support the implementation of new customer mobilisations by sourcing additional suppliers and service lines as required
- Support the development of our Garage network approach including our offer, rewards and network community
- Work closely with the network to ensure we receive contractual revenues/rebates from suppliers
- Work with suppliers to reduce contract administration burden across internal teams and improve supplier governance
- Understand internal/external customer’s needs and investigate potential with current and new suppliers
- Lead and implement changes to supplier processes and communicate both internally/externally
Qualification/Experience – Strategic Buyer
- An education to Degree level in Business, and/ or Finance (preferred), or CIPS qualification (or working toward),
- Experience in working in a fleet management environment or experience managing large supplier panels (desirable)
