Job overviewOutwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate is seeking a Teaching Assistant and Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their academy.
The successful candidate will work as a Teaching Assistant during the morning periods, by supporting the teaching and learning of Maths and English, under the direction of teaching staff. Role responsibilities

- Supporting the Classroom Teacher during lessons
- Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met

Requirements
- Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role ie, Teaching Assistant
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
- Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school ie, Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, School Yoga etc.
- Experience of behaviour management and techniques
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.

We are looking for a consistent and supportive TA to work in small class groups supporting the teacher in delivering personalised lessons that are tailored to the pupils needs. We will consider people with previous TA experience and also people from other industries who are passionate about helping young people with SEND. The role
- You will be working with a team of TAs assisting pupils during lessons and group sessions
- To work 1:1 and also in small groups with pupils
- You may be expected to fill in pupils learning journals and document reading and development milestones
- The role could be supporting in other sessions such as Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Speech and Language sessions
- The role could require the use of basic Makaton which can be learnt on the role
- Assisting with lunch times and break times when required.
- Supporting in soft play and sensory play sessions
- Practising and implementing positive behaviour management methods.
- To create a safe learning environment for the pupils and keeping safeguarding as a priority
