Job Description

How would you like to be paid for five days but only work four*?

Our colleagues’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at OFG, so we’re always looking for new ways to improve everyone’s work/life balance. We’re taking part in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, meaning that you could be working one day less a week (or equivalent).

If the trial is a success, we’ll be rolling the 4DWW out across the Group – so there’s never been a more exciting time to join #teamOFG!

Job Title:  Teaching Assistant

Location:  Medway Green School, Wouldham, Rochester, ME1 3TS

Salary:      £20,906.25 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours:      37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 08:30 - 16:00

Contract:  Permanent, Term Time Only

UK applicants only. This role does offer sponsorship.

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our close-knit and supportive team at Medway Green School, located in Kent.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of our students. You’ll work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

You’ll be providing tailored support to individual students or small groups, helping them access the curriculum and encouraging independence, confidence, and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher/tutor in delivering high-quality education for all students.
  • Assist with the implementation of school policies and procedures, ensuring a consistent and effective learning experience.
  • Provide appropriate and personalised support to students, enabling them to engage with the curriculum as independently as possible.
  • Promote the physical, educational, and moral development of students in line with company values and policies.
  • Help manage classroom equipment and resources, reporting any maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Contribute to the organisation of the classroom, including student groupings, displays, and learning materials, with consideration for the needs of students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are passionate about education and are committed to helping children and young people thrive.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A genuine interest in working with students with SEMH or additional needs
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive mindset
  • Experience in an educational or residential setting (desirable but not essential)
  • A willingness to learn and develop within the role
  • A full UK Driving Licence is preferred but not essential - we have students participating in various offsite activities each week, so staff flexibility to support these outings is highly valued

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, helping them achieve their potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.

If you are enthusiastic, compassionate, and eager to contribute to a team that values inclusivity, growth, and resilience, we would love to hear from you.

About Us

Medway Green School is a special needs provision that provides for students whose SEMH/SEN needs have resulted in placement breakdown at their mainstream schools. Students will experience a personalised curriculum based on previous learning and identified needs. Why join Acorn Education?

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully enhanced DBS.

Benefits

Your health and wellbeing are important to us, so you’ll get an exceptional reward package including:

  • Life Assurance
  • Pension scheme with options to increase your contributions
  • “Your Wellbeing Matters” – access to a wide range of first-class mental health support services and physical health checks

And a market-leading benefit offering through our Flexible Benefits Platform, Vista, enables you to choose the package that’s right for you, including:

  • 100’s of discount options valid in the UK and abroad
  • Cycle to Work Schemes
  • Electric Car Purchase Scheme
  • Critical illness cover
  • Family Growth Support - inclusive benefits package covering enhanced maternity and paternity leave, along with paid fertility treatment support.

We reserve the right to close the vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.

Outcomes First Group is committed to carrying out a fair, thorough and efficient recruitment process in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education. Whilst we aim to keep applicants informed throughout, Outcomes First Group does not accept liability for any loss of earnings or other associated costs incurred by applicants as a result of delays or changes in the compliance process.
