Nutley is a small rural primary school, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and friendly team, where you will enjoy the challenge of working across the school, supporting teachers and working with small groups or individuals. The 7 hours term time only contract will include some class cover work and there may also be opportunities to provide class cover at other times on a claim only basis.
Please be aware that we are advertising for an additional position that could be applied for alongside this role.
The successful candidate will:

- Have integrity, tenacity and enthusiasm to fulfil the role
- Have experience in a classroom supporting the Class Teacher as well as working independently with small groups of children
- Be an excellent Teaching Assistant with high expectations for welfare of pupils
- Participate fully as an innovative member of our team
Salary Range, currently TA3 £25,185 - £25,583 pro-rata

Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and group support to pupils with additional and complex needs, helping them stay engaged and feel safe and valued.
- Preparing and delivering engaging learning activities, in partnership with teaching staff, to support pupils’ academic progress and curiosity.
- Supporting emotional, social, and physical development with patience and care, encouraging resilience and positive behaviour.
- Taking part in a mix of classroom-based and outdoor learning experiences – from structured lessons to creative and practical sessions.
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a consistent and nurturing environment that enables every pupil to thrive.

Role responsibilities
- Dedicated to mentoring and supporting one pupil or else a small group of no more than five pupils
- Supporting the Classroom Teacher during lessons
- Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
- Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
- Assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation
- Setting work where appropriate, and marking
- Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
- Have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role ie, Teaching Assistant
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
- Be experienced and confident enough to be able to lead on a specialism ie, Reading, Mathematics, Forest School etc
- Experience of behaviour management and techniques
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work. Any costs incurred will be met by ISP.
