Technology Engineer - Roadside Technology (Southwest)

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Technology Engineer - Roadside Technology (Southwest). In this role, you will carry out installation, maintenance, and commissioning of roadside technology equipment, supporting the smooth operation of the highways network.
This is an excellent opportunity to work hands-on with advanced motorway technology that keeps our roads safe, efficient, and reliable. Working closely with the Assistant Project Manager - Roadside Technology, you will ensure that all works are delivered safely, to high-quality standards, and in line with client expectations. The role involves travel to sites across the NH Southwest contract and collaboration with internal teams and specialist subcontractors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, commissioning, maintenance, and testing of roadside technology equipment.
- Undertake software, hardware, and systems testing to ensure equipment functionality and reliability.
- Support the Assistant Project Manager in planning and delivering projects, including assisting with budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Supervise operational teams and subcontractors on site to meet productivity and quality targets.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures, producing required documentation.
- Complete accurate and timely reporting from all systems, achieving KPIs in line with annual objectives.
- Work proactively to identify and implement operational improvements and contribute to the ongoing development of the team.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in installation or maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment.
- ONC/HNC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Familiarity with HERS registration and requirements.
- Willingness to work in roadside environments, at heights, and during night shifts when required.
- Strong understanding of roadside technology, including CCTV, ANPR, MIDAS, AMI, message signs, environmental sensors, traffic monitoring/control systems, electrical supplies, and networking (IP, LAN, WAN, Routing, etc.).
- Proficient in basic computer applications (Word, Excel).
- Full UK driving licence.

Ability to manage a varied workload including responsive support, ongoing case management, project work and admin.
