Job Title - IT Support Analyst
Location - Glasgow City Centre
Hours - 40 hrs per week
Optical Express is one of the World’s leading providers of Laser eye surgery with the largest number of clinics throughout the UK and Europe. A progressive organisation, we operate over 110 clinics. The group operates in the UK, Ireland, Croatia and Germany.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Optical Express at a really exciting time, we are currently looking to recruit an experienced IT Support Analyst to based in our Head Office in the city Centre of Glasgow.
The role will involve supporting both the head office and operational areas of the business; as such an understanding of diverse infrastructures alongside the ability to analyse, detect, diagnose and resolve issues, whilst providing a high degree of customer satisfaction are all fundamentals. The role requires visits to our sites throughout Scotland so a driving license will be essential.
Candidates will be a confident communicator with a sound mix of analytical ability and customer service awareness gained within an IT Helpdesk/Service Desk/Call Centre environment.
Hours of work are predominantly between 8AM and 5.30PM on a rotational shift pattern basis and a degree of flexibility is required.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the Installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, networks, mobile devices, and printers.
- Taking end-to-end ownership of IT tickets, including communication and technical resolution.
- Appreciation of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
- Good experience with Active Directory - adding user accounts, troubleshooting, user network access permission, AD account administration etc.
- Visiting company locations to provide on-site support and collaborating with team members during projects.
- Responsible for managing mobile devices, configuration, and troubleshooting any issues.
- Experience in troubleshooting MS Windows 10, 11 as well as Office 365.
- Microsoft accreditations such as MCP and / or MCSE and ITIL would be advantageous.
- The role requires a confident communicator with a sound mix of analytical ability and customer service awareness gained within an IT Helpdesk/Service Desk/Call Centre environment.
- Creating and applying user groups, permissions and settings using NTFS and Windows Group Policy.
- Tracking asset management by managing stock, issuing items and maintaining records.

What you'll be doing
- Develop end to end expertise of all process technology deployed at our Menstrie manufacturing location
- Be a thought leader for fermentation technology that helps define and shape continuous improvement strategies and plans through deep expertise in fermentation engineering and microbial physiology.
- Define KPIs for each fermentation process on site. Launch and oversee projects to drive continuous improvement of KPIs.
- Lead a team of Process Technologist to maintain and communicate control charts of fermentation KPIs that can be used to identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead and support optimisation initiatives to increase yield, reduce cycle time, reduce costs and enhance safety and product quality
- Collect and analyse process data statistically and build models to support process decisions and continuous improvement.
- Provide subject matter expertise in aseptic design and SIP and CIP systems to reduce contamination and improve bioburden control
- Support downstream operations (centrifugation, filtration, spray drying, evaporation) to ensure reliable and high-performing operations.
- Support and execute successful tech transfer to manufacturing partners including SOP’s, equipment qualification and training.
- Work cross-functionally with RD&A, QA/QC, engineering, production and strain teams; translate customer and internal requirements into actionable plans.
- Mentor and coach junior scientists and technologists through both formal and informal leadership.
- Maintain rigorous documentation of methods, results and SOP’s; contribute to IP capture and patent support.
- Consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to both lab and process safety.
- Adhere to and promote biosafety, hygienic design and quality management standards (e.g. BSL-2, GMP, FSMA, HACCP, ISO food-grade).

- Ideally PhD qualified in Biochemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Fermentation Engineering, or a related technical degree.
- Proven industry experience.
