Head of Technology
Bicester, Oxfordshire (5 days on-site) | £85,000 - £95,000
Are you a strategic, hands-on IT leader who can steady a legacy estate while preparing a business for cloud transformation? We’re hiring a Head of Technology to lead BAU IT across a multi-site UK operation from their Bicester HQ, working with a fractional CIO and trusted MSPs.
This is a pivotal role focused on maturing corporate IT, improving standards, and building scalable systems on a cloud-first roadmap. A board-approved three-year programme (led by the CIO) will modernise ERP, e-commerce, CRM and WMS. You’ll keep the lights on across an on-prem estate (incl. IBM iSeries/AS400 and Microsoft 365), contribute to design and readiness, and support a small in-house team.

• Own and stabilise BAU for on-prem infrastructure, networks and legacy apps, ensuring availability, performance and security.
• Lead service delivery and suppliers; coach a core team of ~5 to clear priorities and measurable SLAs.
• Uplift governance and compliance (GDPR); progress Cyber Essentials → Cyber Essentials Plus and lay groundwork for ISO 27001.
• Contribute to the transformation: shape target architecture and cutover for ERP, e-commerce, CRM and WMS.
What We’re Looking For:
• Senior IT lead comfortable in multi-site, legacy-heavy environments, happy to be hands-on when needed.
• Strong Microsoft 365/Azure and SaaS know-how plus deep on-prem experience; able to discuss code/integrations and data flows.
• Proven service, supplier and budget management with clear, commercial stakeholder communication.
• Security-first mindset with experience hardening estates and preparing for certifications.
Why Join:
• Shape BAU and help architect a modern cloud stack with clear board sponsorship.
• Mentoring from an experienced fractional CIO; pathway towards SLT/ExCo over time.
• Real autonomy to raise standards and enable B2B and growing D2C channels.
• Minimal legacy in the target state, high impact from day one.
