Our Streets team, within our Transportation business line, has a vacancy for a **Principal Engineer** based in our Birmingham Office.

The streets team is growing to cater for an increased workload, particularly Active Travel and Bus Priority schemes. It provides concept, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of projects for local authorities and contractors and supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface.

The successful candidate will be joining a dedicated team that is actively involved in the delivery of high-profile projects and services to a range of both local and national clients.

As a Principal Engineer, you will provide project management and technical leadership on projects. In doing so you will support our contract commitments whilst ensuring technical excellence and co-ordination between disciplines. You will have the opportunity to undertake line management duties and to mentor and direct junior members of the team and support them in their professional development.

**Deliver:** Provide feasibility, concept, preliminary and detailed design, community engagement, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of multi-disciplinary transportation and urban realm projects. Deliver work from the Birmingham office in conjunction with other teams across the UK and Ireland and our Global delivery centres.
**Oversee:** Plan and develop engineering tasks concerned with unique problems, including exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
**Provide Expertise:** Offer knowledge and expertise to the design team on all aspects of multi-disciplinary projects, from conceptual phases to implementation.
**Ensure Quality:** Working through the complexities of our Transportation projects, overcome problems in collaboration with our Clients. Ensure our schemes are delivered to the highest quality in line with AECOMu2019s quality procedures and Project Delivery System.
**Collaborate:** Support a team of multi-disciplinary consultants to deliver integrated designs and build effective relationships with our technical teams and Clients.

**Key Responsibilities:**
Provide technical leadership on projects or packages of work for traffic engineering schemes.
Prepare detailed technical reports, technical specifications and cost estimates.
Act as an AECOM accredited Project Manager, managing the financial performance of projects. (Comprehensive training on AECOMu2019s project management system will be provided).
Lead on quality management and ensure compliance of designs with the requirements of the brief, all applicable standards, regulations and AECOM quality procedures.
Prepare detailed proposals, client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to or lead bids.
Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team and fulfilling all CDM responsibilities including safety in design
Undertake client-facing project duties, representing AECOM as the key point of contact.
Undertake line manager responsibilities for junior staff, providing guidance, management and career planning and completing annual performance evaluations.
Support the technical and professional development of members of the team, sharing knowledge, managing their input into projects and mentoring them towards professional qualification.

About the Role

We're seeking a manager passionate about learning, leading and logistics to manage a team in our Transport department. As a Transport Team Manager, you oversee all aspects of our Transport operation and responsibilities related to our Operators License which include and are not limited to fleet, facilities, and team management.


The role operates on a 42-hour per week schedule (average) with a 4 on 4 off pattern (12-hour shifts). It’s a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in a key role within a leading company.

Although experience in logistics is beneficial, it’s not required. If you have strong transferable skills, we’d love to hear from you!


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the transport department, including shift scheduling and fleet management.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of drivers to ensure high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Exceed customer expectations by ensuring efficient and professional service delivery.
  • Represent the Ocado brand professionally, maintaining high standards in service and safety.


About You

  • People management and team-building skills.
  • Excellent highway code knowledge.
  • Knowledge of EU drivers hours rules and Working Time Directive regulations for mobile workers.
  • Previous experience in a similar environment such as, Fleet, distribution, warehousing, Freight, Retail or Health and Safety.
  • Operator License awareness training and general Transport industry specific training and development is highly desirable, not essential.
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders and service providers.
  • Familiarity with HR policies and procedures.

**Job Summary:**
The Senior Expert Transportation Management role is a key and influencing role within the NTT Data Digital Core Practice. The successful candidate will be part of a wider team responsible for the design and implementation of SAP solutions to our customer base and to meet our customer's needs. As a Senior Expert you will support customer engagements and perform delivery of the Transportation Management solutions working alongside Transportation Management Solution Architects, Project Managers and the Integration Team to deliver innovative and high quality solutions integrated with and embedded into core S4Hana solutions.
**Duties/Responsibilities:**
-Support Transportation Management Solution Architect to work closely with customer and NTT Data sales and business development teams to assist in the translation of business requirements into a solution that takes advantage of the Transportation Management capabilities supporting the architecting of Transportation Management within the overall solution landscape. This will include collaboratively compiling statements of works to support any stage of the sales and deal review processes. Leads and co-ordinates integrated workshops with detail and complexity with Senior Stakeholders in the customer business.
-Provide thought leadership to NTT Data and its customers focused on Supply Chain strategy specifically in the Transportation Management solutions and the Transportation Management road map
-Act as the design authority on the projects ensuring the quality and integrity of Transportation Management solutions being implemented is aligned to industry best practice
-Adhering to the agreed NTT Data strategy, engage in self-directed and other learning to keep pace with new technologies and developments to ensure NTT Data remains at the forefront of the market within which we operate. Share, use and communicate expert knowledge in order to develop others and make business processes more effective.
-Recognise potential for repeat and extended business with respect to end-to-end service offer by NTT Data and provide comprehensive input. Support NTT Data to grow our business by being alert to the customer opportunities that present themselves.
-Have strength and depth in delivery and configuration expertise for the following;
-Freight Unit Building and Order/Booking Management
-Manual and Optimzer Based Planning
-Cockpit layout management
-Tendering and Supplier assignment
-Transportation Management Execution
-Charge Calculation and Settlement
-Cost Distribution
-Experience and knowledge of both Embedded and standalone deployment options is required.
-Experience and knowledge of both Shipper and Third Party Logistics Provider scenarios is required.
-Experience and knowledge of pallet and load building, Event Management, PPF and Integration to EWM would be advantageous.

**Personal Profile/Experience:**
-The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate more than 6 years of professional experience working within an SAP / Transportation Management consulting environment. Experience working with a value added re-seller or software house would be advantageous
-Proven and demonstrable experience in solution design and architecture with successful delivery and experience of all elements of more than 5 full project lifecycles

Profile
