We are recruiting for a maternity position as an Accountant
This role will support the Accounting Manager and the Finance Team by having responsibility for day to day management of several key financial systems and processes ensuring adherence to external and internal regulations for Valneva Sweden. The role will also support the business growth through ad hoc project work from time to time.
Some travel to our Solna office will be required as part of the responsibilities, likewise we will also consider applications directly from Solna.
Please note this is a maternity cover position for 12 months.
Requirements
For Valneva Sweden:
- Responsibility for a number of month-end close, balance sheet and profit and loss account processes
- Assisting with the maintenance and control of the purchase and sales ledger
- Responsibility for the timely payment of all suppliers in accordance with Valneva Sweden AB terms of business
- Deal with any escalated supplier queries and resolve promptly
- Fixed asset register management
- Maintain and reconcile cash
- Ensure accuracy and maintenance of Accruals, Intercompany and Prepayments
- Out of hours work as required by the business from time to time to support the accounting calendar
- Assist with liaising with auditors and preparation of year-end statutory financial statements
- Assist with preparation and information gathering for ad hoc financial modelling
- Assist with completion of tax documentation in relation to VAT including submission of return
- To undertake any other duties as requested by the line manager in accordance with company requirements
Experience
Essential
- Either holder of a recognised Accounting Qualification, part qualified or be qualified by experience
Desirable
- Have knowledge and experience of working in or alongside small and medium enterprises
- Have knowledge and experience of working in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industries
- Have knowledge and experience of standard costing
- Have knowledge and experience of internal controls and SOX

The Requirements
It is essential, due the companies financial cycle that candidates be available to start working either immediately or within a week. Working towards a formal accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, AAT would be beneficial, however our client has indicated that they would consider candidates who are qualified by experience. We are seeking an individual who has UK experience of working within a busy finance team and having the flexibility to change critical priorities at any given time.
