A leading food retailer in the North West of England is looking to recruit a Buying Manager to oversee the Buying and Category Strategy for their Seafood ranges, by effectively sourcing and negotiating the optimum cost price with suppliers. The company are a winner of multiple awards for their products and service and have won awards in recognition of the way the treat their employees.
About the Role
The jobholder will be accountable for developing and bringing to market a profitable category range using their excellent market and product knowledge. With responsibility for fresh and frozen seafood products, you will be required to identify and source new suppliers as well as optimising terms with the current supply base. The role will involve a significant amount of sourcing, innovating and developing products for their own label ranges as well as managing relationships with the large processors and suppliers in both the UK and Internationally. You will also be required to manage the price files associated with the contracts and to execute in season promotional activity to optimise sales, profit and supplier income.
About you
With Seafood Buying / Trading experience in the FMCG Retail sector, you will have complete freedom and autonomy to manage your category from top to bottom and have a proven track record of building strong relationships with suppliers and implementing the category strategy to maximise sales. You will have ultimate accountability for margin and profitability, whilst ensuring that the business stays one step ahead of their competitors, sets retail trends and meets consumer needs. This will be underpinned by your outstanding negotiation skills along with strong commercial acumen.

We have an exciting opportunity looking for a Buying Assistant (Buyers Admin Assistant) on our Own Brand Womenswear department. You’ll report directly into the Junior Buyer for the area, so lots of opportunity to further develop your skills.
About the roleDay to day you will have an understanding of the category critical path and supply chain, whilst undertaking administrative support for the buying function. You will be responsible for sample management and maintaining the sample library.
We’re looking for a Buying Assistant who already has experience at this level, have buying experience or who have relevant transferable skills in a relevant profession and can demonstrate a strong understanding and passion for buying.
The skills and behaviours imperative to being a successful BA candidate here at The Very Group are; commercially aware, able to build relationships and methodical, passionate, strong communication skills, can demonstrate initiative, enjoys problem solving and interpreting data and you must have excellent attention to detail.
