  • significant knowledge of industrial electrical infrastructure with experience in HV to LV, embedded generation, HV and LV switchgear, substations.
  • dealing effectively and professionally with external and internal clients, attending meetings, write and deliver high quality technical reports, minutes, etc.
  • excellent understanding of health, safety and welfare within the electrical sector.
  • witnessing of both site and factory acceptance testing (UK/EU)
  • ability to assess manufactured or fabricated items for faults.
  • the provision of site-based construction monitoring.
  • able to work as part of a wider engineering team and also to operate autonomously as required.

  • good practical experience in the detailed design and/or manufacturing of process equipment, heat exchangers or piping system/pressure parts used in:


  • gas refining
  • industrial gas production and use
  • gaseous chemical production
  • CO2 capture and storage


  • process and mechanical systems in power stations
  • detailed working knowledge of the applicable standards for the design of industrial process components in at least one of the following areas:


  • packed columns
  • gas compressors
  • pumps, fans, blowers for large utility facilities such as power stations
  • heat exchangers
  • pressure safety systems of various mediums such as steam, hydrogen and CO2


  • ability to prepare and review mechanical designs for process plants, i.e., heat & mass balances, basis of design documents, process calculations, material selection, functional descriptions, equipment data sheets, technical specifications and cause/effect charts;
  • good understanding of the principles of process plant layout, with a working knowledge of pipework routing and arrangement;
  • good understanding of process safety principles;
  • working knowledge of quality control systems applicable to process plant design and manufacturing;
  • good knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, material science and strength of materials and structure;
  • have full right to work in the UK; and
  • the ability and willingness to travel both in the UK and occasionally overseas.

Job Title: Engineering Manager – Electrical Engineering (Power)

Location: Manchester – (Hybrid -2 days a fortnight dependent on business needs, also a requirement to visit other sites in the UK on a regular basis)

Salary: Up to £61,967 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and managing engineering staff or business partnerships/ Sub-contracts
  • Performing appropriate engineering planning, management and review activities to ensure Products are integrated, safe, fully compliant and delivered within agreed requirements for cost, quality, time and schedule
  • Assuring the maturity of the developed solutions is appropriate for the specific requirement and that all technical risks and opportunities are captured
  • Reviewing the processes and procedures within the span of control to reduce waste, improve efficiency and establish a dynamic and flexible best in class capability
  • Ensuring all engineering activities are undertaken in line with the Operational Framework and that compliance with all engineering policies is maintained
  • Chair LCM Design Reviews and/or technical bid reviews for minor projects and provide significant contribution to larger projects

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Chartership or working (or prepared to work) towards
  • Engineering degree or HND with substantial experience in Electrical Engineering design / Development
  • Experience of design / development of power systems (concept through to detailed design)
  • Experience in power systems modelling, switchgear, protection and power electronics
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Team Leadership experience

Desirable

  • Knowledge of defence standards
  • Experience of Marine Electrical Systems
  • Experience of working with engineering life cycle

The Electrical Engineering (Power) team:

As an Engineering Manager, you will be leading the newly formed and growing team of engineers, working on technical specifications and engineering deliverables. Your new role

Our client is seeking an Estimator to join their pre-construction team in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to further their career within a progressive contractor, with clear routes for development. You will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and timely tenders across a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure schemes.



Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for highways and civil engineering projects.

  • Reviewing tender documentation and identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.

  • Engaging with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to secure competitive prices.

  • Producing tender submissions and supporting bid presentations.

  • Working closely with the Estimating Manager and senior leadership to develop winning strategies.

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of market rates, materials, and industry trends.

  • Supporting continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems.



What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience as an Estimator within civil engineering, highways, or infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, and pricing.

  • Ability to analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.

  • Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills.

  • IT proficiency with estimating software and MS Office (Excel in particular).

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
