Job description

Your mission is to support the design architect to deliver a project as per the system engineering standards defined for the project. It considers at least requirements, interfaces, configuration and BIM. Acting in a project owner role, the support given to engineering and contractors is essential to the success of the project.

You will be directly managed by the Design Architect, in charge of the overall technical consistency.

The majority of the project activities will take place in UK where the site is located and with limited travels to France or Germany.

Mission Description

• Define and deploy system engineering (SE) methods, on complex systems or projects, within a team, in compliance with standards customer standards, schedules and budgets
• Carry out activities in at least three core SE disciplines (requirements management, interfaces management and configuration management) among those identified in the internal SE reference
• Provide regular technical support to the design architect or the construction manager, as well as expert support on SE methods to engineers, designers and architects
• Verify that the SE disciplines it controls are taken into account in the work carried out within the project
• Propose solutions to solve technical, quality or other problems and, if necessary, changes in work techniques and procedures to improve efficiency
• Present internally, to clients and the internal management of the BU, the results of the synthesis of the activities on the SE disciplines, carried out within the framework of the project reviews
• Lead internal and external training courses in its technical field
• Managed engineering companies and contractors on its area of activity
• Contribute, in support of the architects, to the definition of the SE strategy and a project organization integrating the SE

• Will have a demonstrable record of experience in SE implementation and management:
• 5 years + in at least one area of SE management,
• 2 years + on a factory design or construction project,
• Will have a capacity to work collaboratively with various stakeholders,
• Has a flexible mindset to daily jump from one SE matter to another,
• Enjoy to work in a project team.

Candidates with specific experience of Cradle software or Revit will be a plus, but it’s not mandatory.

Position Location: Bristol, England at the beginning of the project, and transfer at site (30 kms from Bristol) in due time.

Professional travels: France, Germany and UK.

Located at the HVDC Engineering Centre in Stafford, UK - as the successful candidate, you will contribute to the delivery of complex HVDC projects as part of a high-performing and collaborative engineering team.
The role entails global responsibility for Systems Design, with a primary focus on establishing and maintaining robust engineering processes, deploying effective tools, capturing and applying lessons learned, and driving competency development across the organisation.
**Job Description**
**Responsibilities:**
+ Globally accountable for Systems Design, focusing on processes, tools, lessons learned, and competency development.
+ Ensure a safe working environment for the team - Identify and evaluate EHS risks in own area and implement practical safety measures.
+ Ensure Delivery of HVDC Systems Design teams' scope is in line with plan (On Time Delivery - OTD) and budget.
+ Ensure correct level of Quality of the teams' deliverables (documentation & engineering product).
+ Ensure best practice processes and tools for Systems teamwork scope and audit that processes are being followed and ensure and drive continuous improvement in System Design across global system design teams.
+ Ensure a 'Lean' approach and culture within the team and drive the team to committedcost and time savings.
+ Competency development and people review for the team.
+ Lead the capture, implementation, and validation of project requirements.
+ Effectively communicates technical issues throughout the organization mainly with Principal Engineers.
+ Lead team in solving challenging technical issues in HVDC System Design.
+ Proactive interaction with other engineering departments and regions for product definition.
+ Foster an environment of knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.
**Candidate profile**
+ The candidate will preferably be educated to degree level in a related Engineering or Science subject and be able to demonstrate they have the in-depth experience and proven abilities to perform the role.
+ Candidates with significant proven experience in the design and/or development of HVDC HV Equipment and system engineering studies is preferred covering both LCC and VSC technology solutions.
**Previous** **experience preferred in the following areas:**
+ Management of technical issues both internally and with client.
+ Significant integration with other stakeholders.
+ An enquiring mind and desire to learn new skills and a willingness to share the knowledge are essential qualities.
**Qualifications & Characteristics:**
+ Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
+ Take a pro-active approach to ensuring Health & Safety is paramount, including conducting Risk Assessments.
+ EHS compliance capability.
+ Prior experience of people management.
+ Prior experience of electrical transmission industry.
+ Knowledge of HVDC / FACTS System Design, Equipment Specification & report checking and approving.
+ Knowledge of power system and harmonic studies.
+ Knowledge of assessing supplier technical offers, Type Test witnessing and equipment installation.
+ Requirements capture, compliance and Verification & Validation experience.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Excellent organisation and leadership skills.
