**Job Description Summary**
The Sensor Technology Engineer will work as part of the Engineering R&D team based in Lisburn, working principally on research developments for Transformer DGA monitors and gas sensing techniques. The work will involve application of appropriate scientific knowledge, testing and analysis to solve problems and develop new techniques and features relating to Transformer DGA monitors, including creation and testing of oil samples, and development of new product features for measurement of gas in oil.
The successful candidate will lead R&D projects and present outcomes and recommendations back to relevant stakeholders in the business. The role will involve working in multi-disciplinary teams both in an office and a lab environment. The work will include presenting outcomes and recommendations back to relevant stakeholders in the business, and work in cross-functional teams to implement changes into products and factory test processes.
**Job Description**
**Responsibilities:**
+ Investigate and implement new product developments & techniques for GE transformer monitors.
+ Investigate calibration and performance improvements for dissolved gas devices
+ Creation and test of gas-in-oil samples to support product testing
+ Provide technical leadership within key projects, leading the experimental strategy and planning as well as conducting tests.
+ Document and present results to management and key stakeholders
+ Work within the wider R&D team contributing test support and scientific analysis where required
**Essential Criteria**
+ Degree level education in engineering/STEM/relevant technical subject area
+ Demonstrated experience in relevant industrial setting
+ Demonstrated experience in lab-based research work
+ Experience and knowledge of safety requirements and best operating practice in lab.
+ Proficiency in data analysis and algorithm development using relevant software packages
+ Experience in software programming languages and/or analytical software packages
+ Excellent communication and documentation skills
+ Experience working in a multi-function team and on inter-disciplinary projects.
+ Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
+ Demonstrate previous successes working in a team-based environment to meet objectives
**Desirable Criteria**
+ Relevant experience on gas detection and /or dissolved gas analysis technology
+ Experience working with hydrogen detection technology in DGA
+ Demonstrated experience in gas sensing technology models and calibration techniques
+ Understanding of DGA industry application area, and relevant sensing technologies.

  • Strong understanding of retail systems (POS, ERP, WMS) and their infrastructure needs.
  • Proficiency in networking (Cisco, Fortinet), cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and security.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001).

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of educational pedagogy, a comprehensive knowledge of edtech tools and platforms, and a passion for leveraging technology to improve educational outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic planning, implementation, and support of educational technology initiatives across the institution.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and integrate new edtech tools and platforms to support diverse learning needs and teaching methodologies.
  • Provide expert advice and training to faculty, staff, and students on the effective use of educational technologies.
  • Develop and maintain online learning environments, content, and resources, ensuring accessibility and user-friendliness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to educational software and hardware.
  • Collaborate with IT departments and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and maintenance of technology infrastructure.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in educational technology and digital learning.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines related to the use of technology in education.
  • Conduct research and pilot projects to assess the effectiveness of new technologies.
  • Support the administration and management of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other key educational platforms.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational technology support, development, or management, preferably within higher education or K-12 settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) and other edtech tools (e.g., video conferencing, collaborative platforms, authoring tools).
  • Understanding of pedagogical principles and how technology can enhance learning experiences.
  • Experience with instructional design and online course development.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks effectively in a remote environment.
  • Experience with data analytics related to user engagement and learning outcomes is a plus.
