The Role:

This role will be part of Saab Seaeye our Underwater Robotics Business in Fareham.

The role will be responsible for the production and inspection of PCB assemblies to IPC610 and PCB rework/modifications to IPC7711/7721. In addition, you will also be tasked with reporting all faults found using the correct processes in order to continuously improve production quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To build quality PCB assemblies and rework, in accordance with the relevant IPC standard and the deadlines set out in the production schedule.

  • To monitor quality of all PCB assembly and rework, in accordance with the relevant IPC standard, by performing inspection throughout different stages of build.

  • To record and log all inspection failures using company systems and databases.

  • To check build information is up to date and feedback to Production Engineering or your Supervisor/ Line Manager any changes or additional information required.

  • To communicate and highlight B.O.M or kitting errors to your Supervisor/ Line Manager.

  • To monitor evaluate and help improve the efficiency of PCB processes and procedures.

  • To provide support and ideas in maintaining and implementing lean manufacturing.

  • To use personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to any challenges found in the day to day running of the PCB department.

  • To maintain personal ability in, and appropriate use of, all relevant IT (Information & Technology) and other systems required to adequately perform the role.

  • To liaise with Test Technicians on fault finding and identifying root cause problems.

  • To check build information is up to date and feedback to Production Engineering / Supervisor any changes or additional information required.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in through-hole soldering

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and the ability to precisely handle small components are essential.

  • Familiarity with identifying various electronic components and understanding their functions.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions accurately.

  • A commitment to high-quality work and precision is paramount in PCB assembly.

The Role:

The Lead Production Quality Engineer role will be to lead, develop, and implement robust production quality strategies that ensure Saab Sensor Systems' products meet stringent defence standards. The Lead Production Quality Engineer will oversee quality control in manufacturing, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and customer requirements and is responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured by Saab Sensor Systems meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that all products meet specified standards.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes and finished products.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality into all stages of the production process

  • Act as the quality point of contact between production and engineering.

  • Conduct and lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings, and drive action items through with the broader team.

  • Analyse production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Drive initiatives to improve product quality and reliability and identify areas for process optimization and efficiency gains to minimize defects and rework.

  • Implement lean manufacturing to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Investigate and analyse product failures, non-conformities, and customer complaints to determine root causes using techniques such as 8D, 5-Whys and fishbone.

  • Maintain documentation of root cause analysis and corrective actions, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness.

  • Support Supply/Purchasing Quality team with quality related issues.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on quality performance to senior management.

  • Lead the production quality team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.

  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and knowledge.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a quality engineering or management role, preferably in electrical engineering, high tech manufacturing, aerospace or defence industry.

  • Strong knowledge of quality control and assurance principles, statistical process control, and lean manufacturing techniques.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100 etc.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards relevant to the defence sectors.

  • Knowledge of Electro/ mechanical technology and its applications.

  • Preferable a practitioner or higher with the CQI.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may involve working in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to machinery and production processes.

  • Occasional travel to sister company site in Sweden and potentially supplier sites.

The Role:

Saab is expanding in the UK and we are now seeking a talented and highly motivated RF Inspection & Test Technician to support our radar and sensors activities at our Fareham office.

Much of our current work is centred on the G1X radar, which is the newest radar in Saab's portfolio - a software defined radar with a regular capability update cycle post-delivery, as well as an established production line. As an Inspection & Test Technician you will work in the Production department as part of the Test & Inspection team. Duties will be (but not limited to) inspecting produced items and units and testing units and the G1X Radar. Whilst the role is based in Fareham there may be opportunities for trips to Sweden for training and knowledge transfer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support Inspection & Test Team Leader by being proactive to achieve production goals

  • Ensure any soldering and electrical looming is carried out to a high standard in line with company standards and procedures. Test functionality of produced units and sub-assemblies

  • Help and support others with training when possible, by passing on knowledge and skills

  • Understand and interpret electrical drawings.

  • Follow documented processes and record results

  • Carry out any other duties as detailed by the team leader or Production Supervisor. Maintain personal ability in, and appropriate use of, all relevant IT (Information & Technology) and other systems required to adequately perform the role

  • Act ethically, with integrity and in the best interest of the business at all times

  • Maintain a professional and supportive relationship with team members and other departments in order to deliver business and delivery objectives or deadlines

  • Test radar systems, including conducting thorough inspections and performance evaluations to ensure they meet required specifications

  • Troubleshoot radar systems by identifying and resolving technical issues, performing diagnostic tests, and implementing corrective actions

  • Liaise with Swedish colleagues over Teams, email, or in person to collaborate on projects, share knowledge, and ensure effective communication and coordination across teams

Required Skills:

  • Be familiar with use of standard test and measurement equipment used in either a communications, radar or electronic warfare systems environment

  • Enjoy working and developing as part of a team

  • Cooperation with others but also capable of working individually

  • Good technical communication skills

  • Computer literate

  • Capable of good time management

  • Experienced in the use of multi-meters and Oscilloscopes with a knowledge of both analogue and digital systems.

  • Good knowledge of electrical and electronic components and principles

  • Have 3-5 years of minimum RF experience, with a proven track record of troubleshooting

Desired Skills:

  • Capable of inspecting to IPC class 3 standard

  • Have a background in inspection, testing and measurement (3-5 years minimum)

  • As a person you are positive, social, result oriented and a team player

  • Proficiency in documenting procedures, findings, and recommendations

  • Capacity to develop creative solutions to unique challenges

The Purchasing Manager will oversee all procurement and supplier management activities, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of materials, components, and services. Operating within the UK's regulated defence environment, the role requires a good grasp of Ministry of Defence (MoD) procurement practices, DEFCON terms, and export control requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with business objectives, programme milestones, and customer requirements.

  • Manage supplier selection, tendering, and contract negotiations to secure best value while ensuring quality, security, and delivery performance.

  • Ensure compliance with UK defence procurement regulations, MoD standards, DEFCON terms, and international trade controls (e.g. ITAR, EAR).

  • Lead supplier relationship management, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation to maintain a resilient supply chain.

  • Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, compliance, and project management teams to meet technical and programme requirements.

  • Support audits, reporting, and governance processes, ensuring full transparency and traceability across all procurement activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction, lead-time optimisation, and supplier innovation.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the procurement team, ensuring capability development and high professional standards.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management within the defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated sector.

  • Good understanding of UK defence procurement practices, MoD contracting frameworks, and export control legislation.

  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, and supplier development skills.

  • Commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, quality, delivery, and compliance priorities.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.

  • Security clearance (or eligibility) in line with UK MoD requirements.

  • MCIPS qualification (or working towards).

  • Experience managing high-value, long-term defence contracts.

  • Knowledge of international defence supply chains and offset requirements.
