**Your New Role.**
Cloud Playout Systems Engineer is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of Cloud and On-premises broadcast playout at Origination Centres. The Cloud Playout System Engineers are at the forefront of Cloud and related IT technologies, interacting with the full breadth of AWS services. Engineers will be responsible for ensuring operational continuity of all global broadcast feeds, uptime for related infrastructure equipment which includes completing detailed tasks assigned.
This role is a Shift role on site at our Chiswick Park Facility.
**Your Role Accountabilities.**
+ Provide technical support of Cloud infrastructure for Global Playout Services.
+ Provide extensive support of multi-channel playout automation systems, components, and Media workflows, with the ability to quickly execute troubleshooting procedures.
+ Understanding IP Network and Ethernet connectivity, including TCP/IP, UDP, RTP, VLANs, and multicast protocols.
+ Monitoring & Control system configuration and support to maintain a stable, reliable on-air product.
+ Understanding of signal routing control systems to route video/audio and Video-over-IP signals.
+ Experience working with utilizing Network Management Systems (NMS), SNMP MIBs, OIDs, traps.
+ Ability to support multiple server types to configure/troubleshoot: Windows/Linux workstation/server applications, operating systems, and hardware components.
+ Creation and use of standard operating procedures, technical reference documents and drawings.
+ Work closely with vendors and/or internal departments for optimal hardware/software configuration and support.
+ Ensure service levels are met by monitoring and updating incident tracking system/s for timely resolution of critical issues.
**Qualifications & Experience.**
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering or similar technical field and/or equivalent practical experience.
+ Minimum three years of experience as a hands-on IT engineer in a cloud-based broadcast, post-production, or other operational environment.
+ Deep understanding of networking, Cloud-based network environments, Cloud computing and Virtual machines (VMs).
+ Deep understanding of Windows and Linux servers and/or workstations.
+ Experience with Linux, Windows OS, virtual and public and/or private cloud environments and knowledge of basic network troubleshooting using ubiquitous OS tools.
+ Understanding of SMPTE 2022-7, SMPTE 2110, NDI, RTP, SCTE, CC 708/608, Dolby AC3 standards, and Transport Streams.
+ Working knowledge of remote support tools.
+ Ability to work any shift schedule - Work at any time in a 24 X 7 staffed environment including weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.
+ Strong organizational skills and proficiency in establishing priorities with multiple projects under tight deadlines.
+ Ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually with minimal supervision.
+ Ability to adapt quickly to new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and online resources with minimal training.
+ Ability to perform well in a high-pressure environment and maintain superior customer service demeanour.
**Other requirements:**
+ Intermediate to advanced level Networking, SAN, and/or other relevant training courses a plus
+ Knowledge of networking, firewalls, routers, Active Directory & load balancers.
+ Working knowledge of MPEG-4 encoders, MPEG Transport Stream analysers and satellite transmission equipment
+ Preferred understanding of broadcast automation systems.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of serial digital broadcast equipment and measurement equipment.
+ Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom.

About the opportunity

Requirements

You must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience leading and managing complex delivery projects using a variety of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
  • Experience in establishing effective project governance and stakeholder communications
  • Solid understanding of API-based integrations and related documentation
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience leading a small team in the project management space


Other favourable experiences:

  • Experience working with cloud computing platforms and SaaS solutions to deliver API-based solutions
  • Experience in the mobility-as-a-service space or with automated fare collection
  • An understanding of the credit card payment processing industry, including the different types of processors, fees, and compliance requirements
  • Experience implementing process improvement methodologies

Your 2-year apprenticeship will be delivered through a blended learning approach supported by our learning provider, Heart of England. You will be stretched, challenged and supported by a business that views your professional development as a priority.

During the programme you will complete a Level 4 Associate Project Management apprenticeship, working across a range of projects, which will offer the breadth and variety to support your development.

Essential Requirements

* 5 GCSEs in Maths and English at Level 4 - 9 (or equivalent)

* 2 A' levels, Grade C - A* (or Equivalent)

* Excellent communication skills

* Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

* Excellent organisation and planning skills

* High levels of energy and passion for project management

* The ability to build highly trusted relationships with colleagues, third parties and internal stakeholders.

What to expect

* Support with the management of stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.

* Communication with a variety of audiences and developing your ability to negotiate.

* Have an awareness of project budgets and build an understanding of planned and actual costs.

* Determine, control, and manage changes to the scope of the project, including assumptions, dependencies, and constraints.

* Identify and monitor project risk or opportunity, plan and implement responses to them, contribute to risk registers.

* Understand the resources required to successfully deliver a project, including colleagues, sub-contractors, and how to manage these.
