We have an opportunity for a **Mechanical Systems Engineer** to join our team at Honeywell, at our site in Yeovil. You will work in our Yeovil Life Support System Engineering group and will report to the Yeovil System Engineering Manager.
Aircraft Life Support Systems relate to the supply of breathing gas and aircrew protection against the effects of high altitude and high acceleration "G" forces. System engineering is an interdisciplinary role focused on the design, integration, and management of complex systems.
You will focus on the design, integration, and management of complex systems throughout the product life cycle, including concept, architecture, design, testing, and support. You will work independently and in teams, acting as a technical contact for customers and coordinating with resources and suppliers. Effective time management is essential, as flexible hours may be required.
**This role can either be 100% onsite, or we offer hybrid working, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model, with occasional travel to customer sites.**

**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead and coordinate the complete life cycle of the Life Support System, focusing on system architecture, design, performance analysis, safety, testing, and electronic controls.
+ Manage requirements by reviewing customer specifications, flowing them down to system and equipment specifications, and coordinating compliance verification activities.
+ Collaborate with global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to align product designs with customer needs.
+ Monitor and report on the design and development status of systems and equipment to both internal and external customers.
+ Serve as the technical point of contact for customers and liaising with various functions such as Project Management, Design, Test, and Manufacturing as needed.
**Key Skills & Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Systems Engineering. However, other relevant degrees or equivalent qualifications would be considered along with experience.

System engineering is an interdisciplinary role that focuses on the design, integration and management of complex systems. The role of the Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer encompasses the complete product design and development life cycle including system concept development, system architecture, design, build, verification / qualification, certification support and in-service support. This includes supporting system and equipment qualification test activities.
The Mechanical Systems Engineer will be expected to work both independently and within a cross-functional team environment. The successful candidate will be expected to be a customer technical point of contact and may be required to lead global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer requirements.
The Mechanical Systems Engineer is expected to manage their time according to the demands of the programme and the department. A degree of working outside of normal hours may occur given the global aspects of the customer locations and the Honeywell Corporation. Occasional travel to customer locations or internally within Honeywell sites may be required.
**Responsibilities**
+ The complete product (Life Support System) life cycle, including leading and co-ordinating:
+ System architecture definition, development and detailed design, which will involve interfacing to system performance analysis, system safety, system testing, electronic controls and the chief engineering organization.
+ Requirements management, involving:
+ The review and flow down of customer requirements to system and equipment specifications; including pneumatic equipment, electro-mechanical equipment and electronic controllers.
+ The identification of requirement means of compliance and the co-ordination of verification / qualification activities to ensure compliance to the customer requirements.
+ Global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer requirements.
+ Monitoring and reporting of system and equipment design / development status to internal and external customers.
+ Liaising closely with other functions, including Project Management, Design, Test, Analysis, Reliability & System Safety, Electronic Controls, Chief Engineers, Manufacturing, Suppliers and Customers as and when necessary.
+ Being a customer technical point of contact
**YOU MUST HAVE**
