Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Project Engineering Manager with a background in the nuclear sector to be engaged on a permanent or long-term contract basis in West Cumbria with hybrid working.
As Project Engineering Manager you are responsible for the coordination, implementation and performance of engineering activities for an assigned project. Maintains a close working relationship with Project Managers and Engineering.
Assists with the establishment and implementation of project manpower needs and coordinates technical activities among disciplines.
Identifies and ensures compliance with all statutory and licensing requirements.
Conducts the design of a technically sound, safe and operable plant with a high degree of reliability.
Prepares and issues Engineering Execution Plans (and ensures that all necessary and appropriate customer requirements, procedures and standards are incorporated.
Compiles lists from each discipline to develop master document list for project.
Works with project stakeholders to develop subcontract and work package descriptions that are consistent with the contracting plan for the project.
Coordinates development of work-hour estimates and transfers information to Project Controls for preparation of engineering cost estimate.
Cooperates with other departments in the company participating on the project.

Keeps project stakeholders advised of project progress, performance and manpower utilization with attention to delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions.
Assures proper documentation of meetings, agreements, conversations, etc. that affect the conduct of the project.
Coordinates the customers engineering comments, approvals and requests with the functional activities of all disciplines.
Encourages and assists in the technical and managerial development of subordinates.
Coordinates Independent Engineering Design Reviews by discipline engineering management
Reviews engineering performance on the project to ensure quality, conformance with conceptual design and completeness of engineering tasks.
Promptly reviews Design Change Notices (DCN), identifies change order candidates, segregates cost collection and assists the Project Manager in pertinent aspects of change order management.
Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifcations and Experience
Ideally hold a degree in relevant Engineering discipline
Ideally Chartered or working towards
Held similar engineering management position
Proven experience within a highly regulated construction sector (including commissioning)

**Job Description**
+ Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of your work package, integrating submission dates.

Salary: £50,700 increasing to £53,400 after probation
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Resident Maintenance Manager to lead an on-site engineering team at the client site in Uttoxeter. You will be the primary point of contact for the client, manage all maintenance operations, and ensure optimal performance of automated systems in a busy warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of maintenance engineers li>Oversee reactive and planned maintenance activities
- Act as the first point of contact for client escalations and incident management
- Monitor and report on KPIs and SLAs
- Conduct shift handovers and daily system checks
- Drive continuous improvement and root cause analysis
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, HR, and operational procedures
Requirements:
- HNC/ONC or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, IT, or Software Engineering
- Experience in engineering or technical environments (e.g., automation, material handling, manufacturing)
- Knowledge of PLCs, WCS/WMS systems, and SAP (desirable)
- Strong communication, team leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Competency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
