The Role:
We're working with a prestigious professional services firm undergoing a major technology evolution. They're seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the design and delivery of innovative, scalable solutions that modernise legacy systems, reduce technical debt, and empower their employees to deliver world-class services.
You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, external clients, technical teams, and third-party suppliers to deliver cutting-edge solutions that drive competitive advantage. It's broad role, spanning software development, infrastructure and Business Intelligence / Data, so we're looking for a blend of experience across these areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement modern, cloud-first solutions (Azure) across internal and client-facing platforms.
- Lead the firm's technology strategy, aligning architecture with long-term business goals.
- Enable the business to become data-driven through the design and delivery of BI and data solutions
- Champion innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless integration and user-centric design.
- Stay ahead of emerging tech trends and bring fresh ideas to the table.
Working Arrangements:
- This is a hybrid role, where you'll work from any of the firm's regional offices 3 days per week (there is one in Sevenoaks), with regular travel to Ipswich to collaborate with key stakeholders including the CTO (expenses-paid).
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as an Enterprise or Solutions Architect in a digital/professional services environment.
- Strong background in software engineering, cloud architecture (Azure), data integration, and DevSecOps.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, BI and data tools, and event-driven architectures.
- Confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in agile, product-led teams and a passion for user experience.
- Certifications such as TOGAF or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect are desirable.
- Bonus: Understanding of security, compliance, and governance in regulated environments.

You will join a diverse team providing IT Strategy, AI advisory, development and support services, working with a range of Version 1's public and private sector customers.
Role
You will have worked in an Enterprise Architecture role, engaging with technical and business stakeholders. Using your breadth of experience, you will lead in defining and delivering transformative programs for customers including:

Qualifications
One or more certifications in relevant architecture domains are desirable, or proven real-world architecture experience in these areas:nEnterprise architecture – (TOGAF preferred)nCloud architecture – (Azure and/or AWS)nAI Architecture – (Copilot, OpenAI, Azure AI, RAG Architecture)nOne or more certifications that demonstrate experience in project management, operations and IT delivery are desirable, such as:nService Management (e.g. ITIL)nProject Management (e.g. PRINCE2)nAgile (e.g. PSM or CSM Scrum Master)nOne or more certifications that demonstrate application or technical specialisms are desirable, such as:nIT Security (e.g. CISSP, CEH, CCSP)nERP Systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Sales Force or MS Dynamics certifications)nProduct or application specialisms (e.g. O365, SharePoint, CRM, Operational Technology)

Sectoral Experience
You will have significant (5+ years) experience in at least one of the following sectors, with a deep understanding of both the technology landscape and market drivers in that sector:nHealth & Life Sciences (e.g. public and/or private health, pharmaceuticals)nBanking & Capital Markets (e.g. fintech, investment banking, reinsurance)nLocal or Central Government (e.g. transport, education, welfare)nManufacturing & Retail (e.g. supply chain, operational technology, e-commerce)

This pivotal role will lead the development of high-level technology roadmaps that align with business needs and Aviva’s strategic vision, ensuring clarity around technology estate, cost of ownership, technical debt, and investment planning. You’ll govern change across both BAU and project initiatives, ensuring alignment with global architecture standards and policies, while championing standardisation and reuse of shared technologies to drive efficiency and reduce costs. Working closely with design teams, you’ll ensure solutions deliver the right architectural outcomes.
