We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer to join us at our office in Bristol. We are looking for someone with expertise in civil engineering design to deliver multi-disciplinary projects for the entire lifecycle - from feasibility, concept and planning submission through to construction details and site inspections.
Our projects are varied and frequently require collaboration with multiple discipline experts across the business.
You will work with clients and contractors to influence infrastructure and development schemes and will be responsible for delivering projects with the opportunity to lead, development and support more junior team members.
As a key member if our Infrastructure team in Bristol, your role will involve the following:
+ Assisting a principal engineer on preparing drainage strategies, calculations and SuDs reports for planning.
+ Preparing plans and drawings at all stages of the development cycle (concept through to construction) as part of buildings team.
+ Design of Earthworks, Pavement and Drainage and the preparation of the associated specifications
+ Ensuring high quality delivery in design through QA checks
+ Liaise with Local Authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals
+ Liaise with clients, third party bodies and multi-disciplinary teams and disciplines on all relevant aspects of projects
+ Assist during the construction stage, including site queries and inspections
+ Opportunity to grow the team and mentor junior engineers
**Key Requirements:**
You will be an experienced Civil Engineer, preferably degree qualified and will ideally be working towards professional qualifications.
You will have proven experience of delivering commercially successful projects with strong client engagement skills and the ability to influence. You will preferably have experience in coaching and managing junior engineers as well as the ability to collaborate with the wider project delivery team.
Experience in the following would be advantageous:
+ Degree qualified, working towards becoming chartered
+ A solid understanding of drainage, pavement design and SuDs
+ Experience of delivering commercially successful projects
+ Client (architect/contractor) engagement experience
+ Ability to input into meetings with third party authorities
+ Experience in drainage design, roads, car parks and cut & fill, etc
+ Good communication skills
+ Knowledge and experience of Microdrainge and AutoCAD
+ Experience of PDS and/or Civils 3D an advantage

A privately owned consultancy in the North East is seeking a Civil Engineer to take technical control of the civil engineering aspects of small, medium and large projects, reporting to the Directors. The practice delivers the full project lifecycle-from feasibility and appraisal through planning, detailed design, construction and operation-across residential, commercial/retail, industrial, student accommodation, sport and leisure, education and heritage sectors.
This is a client-facing role in which you will represent the practice professionally, manage a varied personal workload and run multiple projects concurrently. You will produce drawings and construction details in AutoCAD, supervise technicians through the design process and support the administration of projects. Day to day, you will liaise with architects, clients and other professionals, contribute to robust solutions to design challenges, ensure designs meet required standards under the company's Quality Management System, attend internal and external design reviews, and undertake site visits to monitor progress against specification, reporting issues to contractors, clients and project managers as necessary.
Your technical scope will include delivering residential designs to Local Authority and Water Authority standards; remaining conversant with current Building Regulations and familiar with NHBC and LABC requirements; producing adoptable roads and sewer designs to Sections 38, 104 and 278; and preparing private levels and drainage designs for residential, commercial and industrial developments. You will also prepare engineering support for planning applications, including Flood Risk Assessments, utility assessments and site viability reports.
You will hold a relevant degree in Civil Engineering and bring proven experience in a consultancy environment. Proficiency with AutoCAD is essential, alongside capability with civil engineering design packages such as Site 3D, MicroDrainage and/or Causeway Flow. A strong, fundamental understanding of road geometry, levels and drainage design, and working knowledge of approval processes for Highways (Sections 38 and 278) and Water Authority (Section 104) agreements are required. Excellent communication skills, the ability to build client relationships and a commitment to mentoring less experienced staff are key.
