Production Operatives - Electro-Mechanical
The opportunity:
Aeropeople are resourcing fordetail-oriented and motivated individuals to join our clientsteam as Production Operatives. In this role, you will be responsible for the manufacture of high-quality wiring harnesses and cable assemblies in line with industry standards and customer specifications. You will play a key role in supporting production for critical sectors includingaerospace, defence and automotive . Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and grow within a technical environment.
What you will be doing:
- Undertake wiring tasks including electro-mechanical assembly, installation, looming, termination, and connection of wiring looms and components
- Carry out soldering, crimping, and connector assembly to industry and company standards
- Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematic instructions to execute installation with high precision
- Work collaboratively with other production disciplines, design engineers, and quality assurance personnel to ensure alignment to design intent and regulatory compliance
- Ensure all work is conducted to a high standard of workmanship, traceability, and cleanliness
- Complete production documentation, including job cards, test reports, and inspection records as required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production area to enhance build efficiency, quality, and safety
- Participate in tool control, FOD prevention, and health and safety adherence across the workplace
- Maintain a clean, organised, and professional working environment
- Assist with functional testing and fault-finding of electrical systems under guidance when required
Your skills and experience:
- Harness build, termination, and installation
- Demonstrable competency in soldering and crimping
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings and electrical schematics with minimal supervision
- Sound knowledge of wiring practices, including routing, support, labelling, and shielding
- Familiarity with aviation tooling, wiring conventions, and quality assurance expectations in a regulated environment
- High level accuracy and attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
- Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
Desirable Qualifications:
- Time-served apprenticeship in electrical or avionics disciplines.
- Industry-recognised certification in electrical assembly or soldering (e.g., City & Guilds, IPC, or equivalent)
- Experience working in an aerospace environment
Role is based at our clients facility in the Bedford area and enjoys a 40 hour week schedule, Monday to Friday.

The company are looking to expand their workforce and employ several Production Operatives to join their fast-paced production team.
About the Production Operative role:
- Manufacturing timber components based on technical drawings with the aid of robotic machinery and digital aids
- Operating production machinery
- Accurately loading machinery with correct timber components and consumables
- Using power tools to manually correct any defects
- Manually assembling one off bespoke products using staplers, nail guns, routers, saws and other handheld power tools
- Recording stock movements on company stock control systems
- Involvement in assembly and production across all areas of the manufacturing process
To be considered for the Production Operative role you will:
- Have proven experience in a machine operative position within previous employment
- Be physically fit due to the manual nature of this role
- Be capable of being on your feet for the duration of each shift
- Be able to communicate effectively, with a good written and verbal understanding of the English language
- Be willing to learn all other aspect of production and prepared to be hands on, as the role requires you to manoeuvre large components with the help of other employees

More about the Production Operative role:
- Temporary to Permanent position
- Work pattern: 06:00-15:00 Monday to Thursday / 06:00-12:00 Friday
- Some weeks a 46-hour working week will be required, additional hours split across the week, with overtime being paid after 40 hours

The Role
The Operations teams are currently recruiting two multi-skilled Production Operatives to join the Fishergate site. These roles are to be employed on 37.5 hours’ basis in order to support the business to meet its changing production demands. This role will predominantly be based on 3 shift rotation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with health and safety standards and reporting any near misses or incidents in accordance with Company Policy.
- li>Operate in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) to ensure high levels of performance and quality, reporting any issues promptly.
- Work in line with the site’s quality standards, undertaking quality checks as appropriate.
- < i>Undertake first level maintenance tasks/asset care on designated areas of the Corrugator including involvement in CIL procedures.
- Undertake competency-based training in all areas within the production area to become multi-skilled (this could include working within the corrugator team and/ despatch teams on either of the Norwich Sites).
- Ensure designated areas of Corrugator comply with 5s standards at all times.
- Participate in proactive problem-solving exercises and involvement groups to contribute to addressing any issues affecting operations.
- Communicate to team members and following shift team members to ensure that a high-quality handover takes place.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Qualifications (essential and desirable)
- 5 GCSE’s (grades A-C) including English and Math’s or equivalent experience (essential).
- Experience of working within a semi-skilled role and/ a good level of technical understanding with a mechanical aptitude (desirable)
- Experience of using a process control system (desirable)
Skills, Knowledge and Experience (essential and desirable)
- An ability to follow health and safety policies and procedures and be proactive in supporting a positive health and safety culture.
- An ability to adhere to defined procedures and performance standards to ensure operations are compliant with the required quality standards to meet customer requirements.
- ICT skills.

Pay rates:
- 12.50 for days
- 15.00 for nights
Shift pattern:
- 4-day shifts, 4 days off, 4-night shift, - no changes to this shift pattern - Rotational shifts.
Duties include:
- Operation of the pilot plant equipment (training provided)
- Assembly and disassembly of plant equipment for either maintenance or troubleshooting (training provided)
- Monitoring of production processes and fault diagnosis
- Handling and preparations of raw materials and products
- Ensuring high quality standards are maintained throughout
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and guidance as well as promoting a safe culture
- Acting as members of site Emergency Response Team.

Criteria:
- Eligible to work in the UK
