Responsibilities
· Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial robot programs (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa), ensuring efficient and safe operation in production environments.
· Support general maintenance and installation tasks across all plant and machinery through fault finding, planned maintenance, shut downs and project work.
· Identify and execute automation improvement projects to reduce manual labor, improve product quality, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
· To work safely at all times and follow safe systems of work.
· To be actively involved in the TPM improvement process.
Requirements
· Experience of robotics, including programming - these could be ABB, Fanuc etc. within an industrial and/or manufacturing environment or similar
· Engineering background, holding a genuine passion and interest for engineering and learning.
· Any general maintenance of the following would be desirable (but not essential); 3 phase, motors, sensors, inverters, PLC fault finding, contactors, relays, servo drives, installations, general maintenance, VSD
· Friendly and adaptable working attitude, with the hunger to learn and progress

Purpose of PostWe are seeking a skilled and innovative Robotic Welding Engineer to lead the implementation and optimization of robotic welding systems within our fabrication facility. This role focuses on evaluating current welding operations, identifying automation opportunities, and executing the successful integration of robotic welding equipment to enhance quality, consistency, and throughput.
Responsibilities- Lead the planning and implementation of robotic welding systems into existing and new fabrication lines.
- Evaluate current manual welding processes to identify areas suitable for automation.
- Work cross-functionally with design, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of robotic systems.
- Develop and optimize robotic welding programs, including path planning, parameter tuning, and cycle time improvements.
- Select appropriate robotic welding equipment and collaborate with vendors and integrators to install and commission new systems.
- Design or support the design of custom jigs, fixtures, and tooling required for robotic welding applications.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Train operators and maintenance staff on robotic equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
- Monitor and analyse performance data to ensure equipment uptime, weld quality, and continuous improvement.
- Keep up to date with industry advancements and recommend upgrades or changes to maintain competitiveness.
- Minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience.
- Experience with robot programming and welding automation integration.
- Strong understanding of fixture design, weld symbols, and interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and resistance welding.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes and lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Able to work overtime if required.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable as the role may involve working at various locations from time to time.

What will you do in this role?
- Primary focus will be to manage the design, install, commission, and support of robotic cells, while incorporating robotic technology into larger material handling systems.
- Provide Robotic acceptance testing specifications to support the procurement of robotic technology.

- Educated to degree level (bachelor’s degree or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience as Robotics Engineer or similar role.
- Experience with Industrial Fanuc Robots, ABB, or Motoman.
- Must have the ability to solve complex design and software problems and implement effective and cost-efficient solutions.
- Experienced in setting up and maintaining robotic systems.
- Able to create schematics and troubleshoot to component level.
- Experienced in integrating system components and equipment.
- Networking design and commissioning experience with Ethernet (including EthernetIP), DeviceNet, ProfiNet and Profibus.
- Familiar with EOAT design, programming and operation. Understanding of the principles used in electro-pneumatic systems.
- Solid foundation of Project Management skills: manage stakeholders, determine and monitor scope, manage project schedules, change control, forecasting, risk management, resource planning.
- Good communications skills, flexibility and willingness to work as part of a team of solution-oriented professionals.
- Strong "hands-on" capability in the installation and commissioning of robotic and conveyor systems in a production environment. Experience with 2D and 3D vision installation and programming.
- A strong functional knowledge in PLC based process control systems.
- Willingness to travel internationally to customer sites for up to 50% of the time.
- Full working proficiency in English.
