Cleaners are expected to be able to handle heavy equipment and machinery and prove their experience as a cleaner. Knowledge of the types of cleaning chemicals and supplies is advantageous to the job. Some companies may ask for GCSEs, but it is an extreme rarity that A-Levels are required. These jobs can be physically exhausting and sometimes require a strong stomach. New hires usually receive on-the-job training from their colleagues on equipment operation, cleaning techniques, and safety measures.
