Your Role:

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.

  • Design efficient data structures for storage and querying, including formats like Parquet and Delta Lake.
  • Work across multiple database technologies: RDBMS (MS SQL Server, Oracle), MPP (Teradata, Netezza), and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Neo4J, CosmosDB, Gremlin).
  • Ensure secure and compliant data handling aligned with Information Security principles.
  • Collaborate in Agile teams and use Git-based workflows for version control and code management.

Your Profile:

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in Azure Data Engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of Collibra for data governance and metadata management.
  • Proven experience in the insurance domain is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Python, R, or Scala for data transformation and analysis.
  • Deep understanding of NoSQL databases and distributed data processing.
  • Experience with traditional ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM Datastage, or Microsoft SSIS.

You will provide support on implementing esure’s strategy to optimise customer outcomes and profit for the premium finance product.   • Input into our projects / programmes related to Premium Finance product whilst also providing input to the development and delivery of our product roadmaps.
  • Maintain and grow your understanding of the current and emerging opportunities and risks of Premium Finance products. 
  • Build strong relationships with departments across the business (especially with our claims department) to enable provision of effective repair/replace and claim defence strategies. 
  • Work with Pricing to assess and gain an understanding of the impact, risks and opportunities presented by developments within Premium Finance and our other key insurance products.
  • Maintain an appropriate underwriting footprint via appropriate pricing, aggregator filters, underwriting rules. 
  • Devise rules and analyse output of underwriting tools to detect and remove unwanted, suspicious and potentially fraudulent business at the ‘front door’.   
  • Use data/technology to deliver intelligence throughout customer lifetime to become a market leader and drive exponential growth 
Qualifications

  • Great underwriting experience with knowledge of either insurance or wider financial services products.
  • Any experience with premium finance products or a credit type background would be advantageous but not essential.

We are currently recruiting for an Actuarial Manager to join us on a 9-month fixed term contract basis. It’s a hugely exciting time for us at esure as we continue through an acquisition process with Ageas UK. This role is integral to supporting us as we go through this period of change as you will support the production and business understanding of our financial results through detailed analysis.

What you’ll do:

  • Carry out actuarial reserving across our household account and make recommendations to the Chief Actuary and wider business.
  • Immerse yourself within the business to understand the drivers and uncertainties behind claims emergence.
  • By producing practical an engaging insight, explain to our colleagues across Pricing, Finance and Claims the reasons behind changes in ultimate selections, observed movements in development and uncertainties in results.
  • Present results of selected reserve reviews at formal reserve committees.
  • Produce results to feed into the company’s financial reporting process.
  • Investigate and implement improvements to analysis and processes to drive fuller insight and improving levels of accuracy.
  • Use our new, forward thinking tech platform to improve efficiency, processes and insight.
  • Coach, mentor and develop our Actuarial Analysts. Knowledge sharing will play a big part of this role and drive that culture of continuous learning.
Qualifications

What we’d love you to bring:

  • An experienced Actuarial Manager with UK Personal Lines reserving experience.
  • A data driven individual who is keen to share knowledge around their expertise to the wider business but also to an Actuarial function.
  • Actuarial Qualification (IFoA or equivalent).
  • Experience with IFRS17 reporting is highly advantageous.
  • Any experience working with or in an environment such as AI, Machine Learning, Python is a nice to have but not essential.

What you’ll do:

  • Answer customer calls and emails promptly and professionally
  • Handle billing queries, payment plans, and refund requests
  • Resolve complaints and de-escalate tense situations
  • Support our debt management team
  • Field technical queries to external partners
  • Update and maintain accurate customer records
  • Manage move-in/move-out queries for residents
  • Request customer feedback and encourage online reviews
  • Assist with admin duties, including post and Welcome Packs for new tenants
  • Ensure GDPR and data privacy compliance

Must-have skills:

  • Strong telephone skills – confident, clear, and personable
  • Resilience under pressure – able to handle angry or upset customers without losing composure
  • Firm but empathetic approach – balancing authority with care for vulnerable residents
  • Problem-solving mindset – able to explain bills and processes clearly, even to frustrated customers
  • Attention to detail – accuracy in billing and data is essential
  • Good numeracy skills – confident working with figures, explaining bills, and helping customers understand their costs.
  • Good organisation, diary management, and Microsoft Office skills (Excel & Word)
  • Previous experience in a phone-based customer service role is strongly preferred

Location:

  • Based in Sevenoaks, with occasional travel to our Leatherhead office
