Main Responsibility- The post holder will work as an effective member of the Pharmacy team in providing healthcare services, including medication administration to the patients.
- They will assist in the delivery of a high quality pharmacy service, providing medicines management services to assist in tackling identified inequalities within the prison.
- The post holder will also provide pharmacy related information to patients, prison officers and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that the level of advice given is appropriate to need.
- The role requires autonomous function and within the scope of competency, whilst being a support and resource to less experienced members of staff.
- Assist with the implementation and development of pharmacy support to all the residential wings in the prison which includes, where appropriate, advising patients on the correct use of medication.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive, signed and contemporaneous records both written and electronic.
- Recognise signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol withdrawal and support patients with substance misuse problems, support patients who are distressed and could be at risk of harming themselves or others or could be at risk of suicide
- Communicate effectively with other team members, prison staff and external agencies both verbally and written
- Undertake all mandatory and additional training as identified
- Use and encourage others to be familiar with the security systems within the prison
- Undertake all duties as required of a Pharmaceutical Professional in HMP Chelmsford and to comply with the competencies, knowledge and skills framework of the Department of Health
- Qualified with an NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent
- Registered Pharmacist Technician with current General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) membership

In this impactful role, you'll lead the design of services that put users at the heart of everything we do. As a Senior User Centred Designer, you'll champion user needs throughout the design process, using research, insight, and service design expertise to shape digital services that improve outcomes for residents and businesses across Essex. Working as a lead member of a multi-skilled team, you'll bring depth in either service design or user research, with proficiency across both disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion user-centred design and research across ECC, promoting awareness and embedding user-first thinking throughout service development.
- Lead design work within multi-disciplinary teams, creating end-to-end digital services that meet user needs, comply with accessibility standards, and support business objectives.
- Collaborate with service areas to scope and shape service design proposals aligned with ECC's strategic aims and financial priorities.
- Use visual tools and storytelling to align stakeholders, communicate complex design concepts, and foster collaborative decision-making.
- Identify and develop reusable service patterns and standards to ensure consistent user experiences and efficient service delivery.
- Select and apply appropriate design methods and tools, ensuring all work is documented and aligned with best practice.
- Oversee planning and facilitation of user research using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods, ensuring ethical standards are upheld.
- Advocate for inclusive design practices and help deliver services that work for all users, regardless of background or ability.
- Contribute to Communities of Practice and support the Head of Design in mentoring and developing multi-skilled design professionals.
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Educated to degree level (RQF Level 6) in design, research, or a related field, or equivalent by experience.
- Strong track record of delivering user-centred design in Agile environments, balancing user needs with organisational priorities.
- Skilled in communicating technical complexity and risk in clear, accessible language to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in prototyping, sketching, testing, and iterative design. Ideally including collaboration with developers on coded prototypes.
- Experienced in using analytics and user insight to guide design decisions and improve service outcomes.
- Proven ability to build and support teams in adopting user-centred design practices within Agile workflows.
- Knowledge of Government Service Standards, Accessibility Regulations, and Information Governance principles.

This position has been classed as an anywhere worker role but has an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the office, in Chelmsford 1 day per month, with the remaining time for remote working if desired, in line with the organisation's needs.
The Opportunity
Essex County Council (ECC) is responsible for ensuring that children and young people at risk of missing out on education are supported in being able to access suitable alternative, high quality education provision.
A flexible individual required to work face to face with schools, families and other key stakeholders to ensure access to education. This role will ensure pupils who are unable to access, or who are at risk of losing a school place as a result of behavioural issues which includes bullying, physical or mental health issues, will still have access to suitable educational provision in line with ECC's vision of increasing educational achievement.
An experienced practitioner required to support Education Access Specialists within the education environment, in which some children are currently unwilling to attend school. This role requires effective skills in working with families to reduce risks by securing the best solution for children and young people.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for individual case management to ensure ECC responsibilities in relation to 'Education other than at School' are properly discharged by commissioning appropriate alternative provision for children.
- Responsible for collaborating with schools for those who have been placed on a reduced timetable within a school environment or, who may be struggling for reasons of bullying, to ensure alternative options are considered.
- Responsible for face to face working with families, children and others to identify and secure the best provision for children unable to attend school, ensuring the risks of permanent exclusion from school are mitigated.
- Work collaboratively with schools, providers and families to ensure adequate support and guidance for children to move forward and achieve the best outcome for them.
- Responsible for working with families and schools on all bullying cases to consider alternatives if appropriate and gaining agreement from all parties.
- Responsible for progressing cases, medical referrals, anti bullying and reduced timetables to ensure next steps and actions are agreed.
- Provide advice and guidance on policy, procedures and review mechanisms to Headteachers, Governors and parents, relating to exclusions and reintegration.
- Responsible for monitoring alternative education funded provision to ensure such provision is effective and value for money.
- Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
The Experience You Will Bring
- Educated to RQF Leve 3 (A Level) or equivalent by experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area.
- Experience of working in the educational field and supporting young people to overcome anti social behaviours, working within a team.
- Experience of making decisions and using initiative to ensure positive outcomes for young people.
- Experience of organising and prioritising own workloads with no supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage with and deal with young people often with complex and distressing circumstances.
- Good knowledge of DfE guidance around exclusions and alternative provision
