\n\n Architect- Built Heritage Consultant- Remote working available \n\n \n\n Full time, part time will be considered 30 hours p/w, 4 days a week \n\n \n\n Closing Date: 25th September \n\n \n\n We are an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers,consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professionalservices. Through our work, we make a positive difference in the world.\n\n \n\n Our Historic Environment team requires an experienced, dynamic heritagespecialist to replace our lead built heritage role, to help in thedevelopment of the existing built heritage business in our Planning Southregion, based in London, but working throughout the UK.\n\n \n\n The established Historic Environment team sits within our Environmentteam and comprises of 8 consultants in London and 3 in the MidlandsCampus. We are keen to build on their successes and continue to growthe team and the direction of the built heritage business. This is anopportunity to really drive this expansion. We have contributed to a number ofhigh profile projects including HS1, HS2, Crossrail, the Victoria and AlbertMuseum, Grand Hotel Birmingham and St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.\n\n \n\n You will have the ability to run large and complex projects and take a pivotalposition in dealing with Client contacts and supporting the management of otherteams within Arup.\n\n \n\n The Role \n\n \n\n We are lookingfor a motivated and enthusiastic individual with good communication and peopleskills.This is a newopportunity for someone to run and expand our built heritage strategy, supportingour clients to achieve their aims through your consultancy skills.\n\n \n\n Your role covers management of change within thehistoric built environment, combining technical expertise and architecturalknowledge with commercial acumen and business leadership.Focusing on winningnew work, overseeing the delivery of built heritage inputs for internal andexternal clients within a wide range of project sectors including planning,structural engineering, geotechnics, energy performance, property, transportand cities.\n\n \n\n Leadership of Arup’s more complex and challengingprojects will be required, guiding on assessments, design advice and consentapplications. The role will require the ability to bring in a variety of workranging from Conservation Management Plans, Conservation Area Assessments,Environmental Statements, Statements of Significance, Urban Renewal Strategiesand complex conservation projects for sites in the UK andinternationally. \n\n \n\n The role will require minimal supervision and youwill be responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure that standardsare maintained. This role will report to the Historic Environment teamleader. Ideally you will have experience in project management, preparation oftenders and dealing with a range of clients in a consultancy role. With the abilityto draw on your knowledge of the theory andapplication of current and developing conservation practices and architecturalhistory. You should also have an interest in Environmental ImpactAssessments and an understanding of what this involves.\n\n \n\n A key element of the role involves developingwinning bids and having an in-depth knowledge of the marketplace and being ableto quickly develop an understanding of the full range of skills availablewithin Arup.\n\n \n\n Finally, the applicant should have a specialism,skill or area of knowledge that contributes to the development of the team andwider business, providing Arup with a competitive advantage. This willcontribute to our innovation programme and to developing technicalexcellence \n\n \n\n To achieve in thisrole, you will have… \n\n An Establishedtrack-record of delivering public or private heritage focused projects; Full knowledge ofthe planning process (including EIA) and be fully conversant with the relevantenvironmental / heritage legislation and guidance; Robustknowledge of UK architecture and architectural history; Excellentpresentation and report writing skills; FullMember of the Institute for Historic Building Conservation (IHBC or similar) Qualifications: Relevant Mastersdegree or higher qualification in the built environment, eg Architecture,Architectural History, Conservation Management or similar.  A good first degree in Architecture, Conservation of the Historic Environment or Architectural History;  \n\n Desirable skills and knowledge: \n\n Architecturalbackground; Experienceof a commercial consultancy environment and international working; Abilityto develop and maintain excellent relationships with a range of clients andpeers in the industry; Technical Reviewerfor assessments and other technical reports; Understanding of engagement in development projects and experience oforganising and managing community consultation.  \n\n Reward and Benefits \n\n \n\n We offer a competitive salary at all levels and one of the best benefitspackages in our sector.\n\n \n\n Core benefits including private healthcare and a range of otherprotection schemes are funded by Arup and made available to all permanent staffin order to support and safeguard your financial, physical and mentalwellbeing.\n\n \n\n Shape your time with us \n\n \n\n Our goal is to shape a better world.
