What has mostly drawn you to Youth and Social Justice? The LSA role requires emotional maturity and empathy, discussing and pre-empting the events of the day that affect boys who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues.
Restorative Practice, pragmatism and positive reinforcement will be key skills in this LSA role in Dorking. The role specialises in working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues and Wellness concerns. The boys you are raising attainment with are between the ages of 9-16, all have EHCPs and will need to continue their education once they leave the school.
Behaviour is only one aspect of this role, it is imperative that you have the academic skill to be able to raise academic attainment across a number of areas. Computing, Hairdressing, PE and the Performative Arts are all incredibly important here, there is a real holistic approach and feeling within this brand new SEMH School in Dorking.
Patience and empathy are huge factors in this role, as are sincere objectives. You have to know why you want to work with some of society's most vulnerable people, it is about the elimination of all ego and being committed for the academic year. You will be building relationships that you may never see all of the good come from them, lessons and foundations to raise the attainment of the boys you are working with
Do you require a placement before starting your MSc/Research project? This practical placement will enable you to qualify and disqualify areas of Psychology, Youth, Social and Criminal Justice that are right for you. This LSA role is not for everyone; you must be sincere about your objectives.

***£80 per day PAYE (No umbrella agencies), 08.15 to 16.15, term time only
***Duration of role until July 19th 2021
***Focus on GSCE subjects, AQA, building a curriculum that works for the boys. Focus on College and continued education
***5 grade or above, 'C' Grade in English and Maths - focus on GSCE subjects - there is a huge push on raising academic achievement and standards
