We work with a wide range of partners such as local authorities and Highways England to improve the quality and safety of UK roads - making us the No.1 highways and tunnel maintenance team across the country, delivering over £1 billion of social value by maintaining 31,000km of roads used by six million people in their everyday livesJob responsibilitiesAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to provide the main Highways Design focal point for the south of the SWDSC, managing the Pavement, Drainage and Geotechnical Design Team Leaders. You will lead a muti-disciplinary team of engineers to provide Highway and design services. You will assist Team Leaders in identifying and applying appropriate methodologies and standards to produce effective and innovative solutions for schemes and studies to current standards. What do we need from you? Strong technical skills and experience of highways maintenance and design preferred.Experience in developing contract documents in accordance with relevant contracts.To be able to work with or advise client on technical issues at a senior level.Good working knowledge of H&S procedures and CDM Regulations.Good organisational skills.The ability to communicate well in the written and spoken word is essential. Ability to perform within a team.Computer literate with competent ability and knowledge of MS Office Suite as a minimum.Degree/HND in Civil Engineering with appropriate experience to be able to undertake the role.C Eng/I Eng with appropriate Institution (ICE, CIHT, RGS, CIWEM) desirable.
