The continuing rapid growth of the business and our expansion into new markets adds additional compliance requirements but also great opportunities for our people to utilise their skills, learn and further develop. We are excited to be making a significant addition to our team with the newly created role of Head of Tax, who will add an in-house tax specialism within our Finance team.  The team The Finance team has been through a recent rapid expansion and continues to add expertise to support the growth of the business. The Head of Tax will sit within the Financial Control and Reporting function, a primary focus of which is to ensure compliance with financial and tax reporting requirements in the UK and internationally.  The role Reporting to the Director, Financial Control and Reporting, the Head of Tax is an entirely new role. You will have responsibility for all tax matters and will have the opportunity to build experience advising on a wide range of activities, with significant exposure to senior leaders. Some of the principle activities you will be responsible for include: Ownership of direct tax compliance in all territories in which we operate. We currently have entities in the UK, France, Germany, Australia and the US. This is expected to include an assessment of the application of US sales tax to our services provided in each US state Tax planning including transfer pricing, and advising on the corporate structure and establishment in new countries  Ensuring indirect tax compliance including oversight of VAT returns in the UK, France and Germany Responsible for tax reporting in the year end financial statements You will provide advice and support to our Engineering, Product and Legal teams on the tax implications of new products and any system developments required Ownership of R&D tax credit claims Management of relationships with external tax advisors and preparers Responsibility for the tax components of our employee share incentive schemes Provide ad hoc advice and support to our People team on aspects of payroll taxes Responsibility for tax due diligence relating to equity or debt finance and M&A activity Ownership of our relationships with national tax authorities and any tax audits that arise. What we’re looking for You will be CTA or ACA qualified, ideally with big-4 practice experience, to at least Senior Manager level You will have expertise in UK direct and indirect tax and proven knowledge of US tax. Exposure to French and German requirements is desirable You will have a strong sense of ownership, the drive required to develop the tax function and will thrive in a fast paced high growth business  You will have led successful projects and will demonstrate the gravitas to influence decisions at a senior level You have a risk based approach and are pragmatic - you will be an excellent problem solver You will have proven skill in analysing processes with the delivery of process simplification and improvement through automation/ system development  In addition to your technical expertise, you will be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex concepts to non experts. You will be robust when required but collaborative in your approach  You have integrity and an analytical approach Bonus points for: Experience in a fast-growing scaleup environment Experience in fintech/payments Experience of leading and building a tax function
