The University of Edinburgh is closely following government advice & policy and will return to office based working when it is permitted. In line with this, the role will be based from Argyle House, 3 Lady Lawson Street, Edinburgh, when office working resumes. The role is full time, 35 hours/week. Job Details Job title: Sales Support Officer School/Support Department: EDINA Line manager: Sales and Business Development Manager Location: Initially working remotely and then based in Argyle House, 3 Lady Lawson Street, Edinburgh when circumstances allow. 2. Job Purpose This post provides crucial sales support to our existing sales team. We are looking for a confident individual who is service and customer orientated and who will, above all, ensure that EDINA customers have a great experience. The post holder will be keen to develop an in-depth knowledge of sales, business development and technology within education and beyond. The role will undertake a high level of outbound sales and business development activities across a variety of channels to increase EDINA's outreach to Universities, Colleges & Schools. The post holder will leverage digital communications as well as telephone and social media to contact existing and new potential customers to inform them of EDINA's service offerings. 3. Main Responsibilities Business development & Sales Research - In line with the needs of the team, thoroughly research all market segments relevant to EDINA's existing and new products and services. The aim will be to provide the team with new contacts and networks across Higher Education, Further Education & UK and International Schools. (Approx 40% of time) Pro-actively engage with new contacts through phone, social media, webinars etc to introduce EDINA products and services. Gain a key understanding of the challenges and issues affecting educational decision makers and purchasers of edtech services through sales and other activities and sell solutions and benefits from a catalogue of EDINA products and services. Collect any customer feedback and regularly relay to the rest of the team. Support the help desk, to respond to and understand customers' needs. Pro-actively engage with existing and potential new customers via digital email campaigns providing comprehensive summaries of campaign results to senior managers. Promote and organise virtual learning events such as webinars, online training. Be responsible for and actively manage the twitter account (Approx 40% of time) Maintain the CRM system with accurate and up to date sales information. Produce sales & marketing reports on a timely basis to present to the sales team and senior management. Accurately update, maintain and create a sales pipeline by using the CRM system. (Salesforce) (Approx 20% of time) 4. Planning and Organising The post holder must have demonstrable planning and organisation skills. Critical to the post is the ability to: • Manage competing sales priorities such as contact research, outbound sales activity, meetings with prospects & CRM work. • Regularly communicate a changing work schedule to internal managers. • Create and deliver to deadlines around different projects, products, services and customer groups • Set and meet goals related to sales activity and external and internal communications. • Ask for help and assistance when needed 5. Problem Solving The post holder must show good problem solving skills with the ability to: • Listen to colleagues and customers to understand potential issues. • Understand and assess different interests of your internal and external customers. • Present valuable options and document agreements made between yourself and your stakeholders. 6. Decision Making Through close contact with the EdTech market, the post holder must closely monitor the changing needs of EDINA customers and communicate these internally. The post holder must use their best judgement to inform colleagues in services and other teams of shifts in requirements or any other pieces of feedback that the market is giving. 7. Key Contacts/Relationships Act as a key ambassador for EDINA to external customers and an important team member internally. Demonstrate the ability to forge new relationships easily with new contacts. 8. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed for the Job Essential • Degree in relevant subject or equivalent experience within a commercial environment, e.g. hands-on-experience in a similar or related role(s), with a track record of delivering sales • Experience/track record of the ability to quickly build rapport with new customers. Be motivated to promote and sell a variety of Ed Tech solutions and products. • Strong listening and sales skills to draw out customer needs and match and present benefits and solutions of the services on offer. • Strong networking skills with the ability to develop and chase down leads and close sales. • Excellent (telephone) Sales and Business Development skills. • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate as well as compose written messages in simple and compelling language, including comprehensive presentation of customer data. • Experience of using a CRM, including report generation and analysis. • Experience of delivering digital, social media telesales approaches, understanding the marketing and sales mix. Experience in/ desire to learn to deliver webinars, product demonstrations and other similar activities • Experience of email marketing campaigns Desirable • Strong interest or general knowledge in Geospatial industries, Computer/Data science. • Good working knowledge of cloud solutions and the value they bring to education. • Knowledge of the UK Education sector. • Visual story telling ability • Experience of online collaborative tools 9.
