Brewster Partners are working with a Sheffield manufacturing business as they look to recruit a SolidWorks Design Engineer.
The Design Engineer will play a key role in the engineering department in ensuring that the company has a range of high quality, technically innovative and commercially competitive products to offer to the market.
The role is varied and will include research, creating concepts and prototypes, testing and developing prototypes, making corrections and requested changes, as well as providing support to the production process.
Responsibilities:Design and develop new products as required and to project manage through to completion Design and develop enhancements to the existing product range Design products to customer requirements and to project manage through to completion Source and procure materials for products within the given budget Support other departments where required on issues of a technical nature Provide technical support for customers, which may involve site visits of both a national and international nature The production of, and maintenance of technical documentation as required, including CAD drawings, costing data, technical construction files, design calculations, bills of materials, technical specifications, marketing literature, test data etc. Ensure that products meet all mandatory legislation Create technical drawings to accompany work instructions and quotations Compile instructions manuals for new and existing products Compile technical data on new and existing products Design calculations Development of standard products to streamline production Creation of new parts and bills of materials. Liaise with the other departments and external contractors
The personCandidates will ideally have a HNC/HND in Engineering, however an Engineering degree is preferable Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of CAD and SolidWorks Previous experience of using SolidWorks in a working environment (graduates considered if they have had a placement year in industry) Understanding of design and engineering manufacturing procedures Planning, project and time management expertise Experienced in working with metals/fabrications preferred Proficient computer and application skills Keen decision making capabilities Excellent communication skills - written & verbal Proven planning, organizing & prioritising skills Good capacity to gather / monitor information Attention to detail & accuracy Flexibility & Adaptability
