Curtis Brown  is one of the world’s leading literary and talent agencies, representing actors, presenters, authors, playwrights, film and television writers and directors and theatre directors. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an entry-level Translation Rights Executive to join the Translation Rights (Book) department, on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. This role is part-time and you will work 4 days a week. You will support one of the Translation Rights Heads of Department and undertake general administrative tasks for the Translation Rights Department as required. Responsibilities Build in-depth knowledge of clients and titles handled by the Translation Agent, as well as with the markets they work across Develop positive relationships with clients and primary agents based on trust, speed and reliability and offer excellent client care Handle requests and enquiries from clients, colleagues in other departments and other industry professionals Negotiate terms, draft and keep track of contracts for clients following agent’s negotiations, liaising with the Curtis Brown Contracts/Legal team Maintain and update the database for client information and scan copies of contracts to the Therefore database system Ensure that Curtis Brown has an accurate record of all new client details including bank details and tax status Ensure that the office runs smoothly including phone, email, filing, book ordering, post and travel Arrange schedules for any foreign trips, Book Fairs and other events which includes arranging travel, accommodation, and publicity details for author promotion Send out translation copies to relevant parties in a timely manner Work closely with other members of the Translation Rights and Book Department teams, sharing information, ideas, and networks Undertaking any other duties as reasonably requested by your manager, including management of their professional diaries Skills, knowledge, experience Great organisation skills and can prioritise effectively A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in your work Ability to manage a heavy and varied workload Ability to write good copy concerning authors and books for the website(s) and digital catalogues Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written, with a great phone and email manner Experience with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to learn new IT systems Good record-keeping and are confident to establish and implement new systems Ability to work calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines, without compromising on quality Experience of using social media and website Content Management System Some previous experience of working in an office environment A team player who is able to contribute positively to the whole department Be resilient and adaptable Be highly motivated with a strong work ethic Someone with a flexible approach to problems – a person who can learn quickly Passionate and knowledgeable about books and the publishing industry We welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented in the creative industries.
