The role:    

We are looking for a Lead Clinician to manage our in-house Clinical Team at Bramfield House School based in Suffolk. The postholder will work collaboratively with both the school’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Regional Clinical Lead. The role will be split between clinically leading the team and holding a therapy caseload. Working collaboratively with the team, the postholder will deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our students who may present with complex profiles of need as a result of autism and other types of neurodivergence, developmental trauma and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.  Meeting the needs of EHCP plans will be a primary focus in this role, target led, via the OFG ‘all’, ‘group’ and ‘individual’ clinical ways of working, embedded into our clinical practice. They will also be responsible for coordinating the line management of the members of the onsite clinical team and leading on the service development of the clinical school-based service, alongside the school SLT and Regional Clinical Lead.

Essential Criteria:   

  • Recognised degree in either, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychotherapy or registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
  • Valid and up to date professional Registration & membership of professional body e.g. BPS 
  • Experience within the specialist client group; working with autistic individuals and/or those with complex needs. 
  • Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities 
  • Experience of providing supervision and supporting a therapy team

  • Facility contract management duties including completion of risk assessments.
  • Continually improve the facility SAP PM system ensuring these transactions are adhered to and robustly captured on SAP PM system.
  • Drive reactive maintenance continuous improvement

Acorn Park is a school for 98 pupils, who all have a primary diagnosis of Autism. We run two curriculum pathways – Formal and Semi-formal. Our Complex needs pupils are on the Semi-Formal Pathway which is highly personalised from their EHCP. On site, we also have a large Forest School and Animal Care Farm along with play facilities, a sports hall and sensory rooms.

About the role

The aim of the role is to support and promote a positive, caring environment, which focuses upon and addresses the needs of each individual child or young person giving them all the tools to succeed in a learning environment.

The role exists to guide all staff in the support approaches most successful for the inclusion of young people in the classroom to ensure that continuous learning is achieved during learning phases in the school, implementing the child focussed emotion and behaviour policy. 

To provide direct support to young people in crisis and who require additional care throughout the school day and to oversee and contribute to the wider planning around the holistic development of young people in the long term.

Designated Areas of Responsibility 

As Learning Mentor, you will be expected to assist the Senior Leadership Team in ensuring that: 

  • Adequate levels of staffing are available at all times and targeted in the right place to ensure a safe working environment- This entails covering teacher absence when necessary
  • You are accessible to the class that you will work with and the team within the class
  • Oversee the paperwork of the pupils in the class that you are responsible for this entails working files, RPI’S and EHCP’s and all other paperwork relating to the designated class / area
  • Attend EHCP Reviews and other meetings for the pupils in the class
  • Set up and maintain a system of structured supervision of staff, which is both evaluative and developmental, and one, which promotes good practice
  • To apply Performance Management systems in the school, which would enable staff members to receive an annual appraisal
  • Write, oversee and manage the rota’s for break times and lunch times (factoring in breaks)
  • Oversee and administer rewards and the points system for your class and work alongside additional Learning Mentors to have oversight
  • Track behaviour trends each day, lead the end of the day briefing and report trends to SLT
  • Maintain the records on sleuth for key individuals
