Typically, this person will be responsible for the design, build, maintenance, and support of secure networks for both internal teams and external customers. The role covers the full lifecycle of network management, from design through to commissioning and long-term support, while ensuring security, reliability, and performance standards are met.

Duties and responsibilities of the Network Engineer:

• Act as a subject matter expert for network design, management, and security.             
li>Lead the design, build, test, and commissioning of internal and occasional customer networks.             
• Su port, troubleshoot, and maintain complex network environments including Fortinet firewalls, Cisco routers/switches, VPNs, and VoIP QoS.            
• A alyse logs, identify trends, and recommend network improvements.              
• Ma ntain and update documentation, including configurations, schematics, and support guides.  
li>Provide 3rd line support for escalated network issues, often to tight deadlines.           
• L aise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure network integrity and service availability.
• Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support rota as required.

Qualifications and requirements for the Network Engineer:

• Professional networking certifications such as FCSS/FCP and/or CCNA/CCNP (or equivalent).             
• Mi imum 5 years’ hands-on experience designing and managing networks.            
• Str ng technical knowledge of Fortinet FortiGate Firewalls, Cisco Routers/Switches, VPN, BGP, OSPF, IPSec, and VoIP QoS.             
• Ab lity to obtain or hold DV Security Clearance.
• Strong organisational skills, proactive approach, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to support and train others.
• Desirable: experience with satcom, maritime communications, MPLS, 802.1x, multicast, Linux, Docker, and Python.

The Opportunity:

In this newly created role you will participate and support all internal IT and Engineering teams, taking responsibility for the through life maintenance and support of both internal and customer networks as required by the company, providing advice and expertise on the design and management of internal and customer networks.

You will participate as required in the build, test and commissioning of such networks and help support and maintain the integrity of network security for internal and external customer networks.

Skills and Experience:

• A minimum of FCSS/FCP and/or a CCNA/CCNP or equivalent qualification
• A minimum of 5 years multi-network exposure including hands on experience of designing and managing networks including at least some of the following systems: Fortinet Fortigate Firewalls (FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer), Cisco Routers (29xx, 83xx,4xxx, IOS-XE), Cisco Switches (29xx, 93xx),Crypto, VPN, IP SLA, BGP,OSPF, IPSEC, VOIP QoS, etc.
• 3rd line support of all network issues
• Ability to absorb and quickly gain and retain knowledge of my clients bespoke products and satellite services
• Excellent customer support skills and ability to interact with customers both on the phone and in meetings
• A well organized, pro-active and can-do attitude, taking ownership of issues relating to the networks, their integrity and managing and completing tasks

We are seeking a strong Network Engineer with active DV clearance to join a critical MOD programme. The successful candidate will be a hands-on network specialist, ideally CCNA-certified (CCNP desirable), and will work in a secure, on-site environment, delivering robust and secure network solutions to classified systems.

• Provide network engineering support to the Defensive Network Services

• Install, configure, and maintain networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls)

This role is working directly for a telecoms service provider, and they are in a continued stage of growth. They are well funded are constantly winning new contracts with both the private and public sector.

These are an exciting company with 250+ headcount and offices all over the world. They work across both public and private sectors, supplying connectivity, communication and IT solutions to a range of organisations within the maritime, defence and commercial sectors.

Due to growth, we need to increase the headcount within the network engineering team. Chances are, you will have worked in a similar environment in a customer facing networking role. Maybe you’ve been hands on for a number of years and bored of the same mundane day to day routine and want to work in a company that values its employees, is on the forefront of technology, and also work with some very interesting clients.

This role has a blend of internal work as well as being customer facing, meaning you’ll have to have strong customer support skills and ability to interact with customers day to day.
