Electronics Engineer – Inside IR35

Location : Hybrid from Edinburgh 

RC Fornax is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our prime defence customer. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects requiring expertise across both digital and analogue domains.

Key Responsibilities:

• Capture requirements, create schematics, and perform PCB layout using Dx Designer and Expedition (Siemens EDA).
li>Conduct circuit simulations and lead design reviews in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Develop and execute design verification tests and produce documentation to support the transition of designs into production.

What You’ll Bring:

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge:

< i>A degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electronic Engineering or a related field such as Physics, ideally with a focus on electronic techniques.
• Strong experience with PCB development tools and processes, preferably Siemens EDA.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• High-speed digital circuit design (e.g., LVDS, JESD204, Ethernet).
• FPGA and processor circuit design, including DDR memory and peripheral circuits.
• Analogue design for low-noise signal conditioning, ADCs, and DACs.
• Power supply design with emphasis on low noise, low power, and compact form factors.
• Proficiency in circuit simulation and PCB signal/power integrity analysis.
• Familiarity with DFx principles (cost, testability, manufacturability).
• Experience in system and sub-system integration and debugging.
• Knowledge of Matlab and Simulink is a plus.
• Ability to design solutions that meet quality, safety, reliability, and testability standards.
• Capable of presenting engineering solutions in design and peer reviews.
• Able to manage project tasks with clear deliverables, timelines, and cost constraints.
• Self-sufficient and proactive in completing tasks.
• Willingness to mentor and support junior team members to enhance team capability.

12 Month Contract – Inside IR35 – Onsite in Bolton

Up to £40 per hour umbrella

Job Role:

We are seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our Calibration & Maintenance Team, to service Electrical and Electronic Test Equipment, including Special to Type Test Equipment (STTE . These tasks include fault finding and repair of test equipment, supporting routine calibrations, commissioning of Test Equipment and drift analysis.

You will be working within an experienced team of Calibration & Maintenance Engineers supporting complex test platforms in the manufacture and test of complex missile systems. You will be trained to calibrate and support special to type factory test equipment using a range of technologies, DC to Microwave.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Minimum qualification: HNC/HND in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Experience and knowledge in the calibration of test equipment and maintenance of test systems to component level.
• Able to utilise instructions, handbooks, drawings or specifications to provide technical advice/guidance. Able to use this information to conduct appropriate measurements and repairs down to component level.
• Good understanding of calibration principles and processes.
• Able to mentor other or more junior staff when requested by line manager.
• Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently.
• Analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good communication skills with the ability to tailor communication to the relevant audience.
• A good understanding of SAP would be desirable.
• Experience of working on Environmental Chambers an advantage.

We're hiring an experienced Electronic Design Engineer for a 6-month Outside IR35 contract with a leading defence and technology company in Surrey .

This role is focused on analogue circuit design for sonar systems , working on both new designs and updates to existing products.

• Active SC Clearance (you must already be cleared)

• Strong analogue design experience , ideally for sonar, audio, or sensor-based systems

• Experience with low-noise signal conditioning, filtering, and amplification

• Skilled in schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, OrCAD, etc.)

• Good understanding of EMC, test, and design for manufacture

• Mixed-signal or embedded experience is a bonus, but this is mainly an analogue role
