We are currently looking to recruit for a Laboratory Technician for our client working within the Water industry. This is a 12 week placement and would suit a Post Graduate or Under graduate from a scientific degree or someone who has some relevant Scientific laboratory experience.
The main purpose of the role is to assist Senior Technicians undertaking various Laboratory based duties.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
• Having a good understanding of laboratory processes, allowing identification and interpretation of atypical results or scenarios to ensure the correct action is taken.
• Prioritise and plan work daily to achieve fully optimised approach, taking into account workstream volumes and sample stability. Be flexible and be able to adapt to last minute changes in priorities.
• Safe operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation by completion of comprehensive training. Understanding and adherence to operating procedures at all times in the respect to the use of all laboratory and associated equipment
• Maintain all equipment through maintenance, cleaning & calibration regimes. Undertake stringent quality control checks and ensure efficient working of laboratory equipment by investigating and resolving any issues.
• Accountable for personal Health & Safety including conducting dynamic risk assessments and role modelling excellent practices to ensure a Health & Safety culture. Must be aware of COSHH requirements to prevent or reduce exposure to substances that are hazardous to health.
• Perform the duties of the role in compliance with company safety standards
To be successful, it’s expected that you’ll ideally have a minimum of six months lab experience, 5 higher grade GCSE’s or equivalent and a minimum of HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 in relevant Chemistry / Biology subject or equivalent. It is desired if you have a higher qualification in a scientific discipline or have a membership with a professional body.
You’ll need to have an analytical, methodical mindset and the ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team. You’ll also need strong IT and problem-solving skills and good attention to detail with the ability to keep accurate records.

**Position Overview:**
To perform analytical testing on existing and new medical devices, skin care products and raw materials according to pre-determined protocols, SOPs, OCIs and TDs in support of product claims. To support business units in the method design, development, and validation of new analytical test methods upon request.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Maintain compliance to ISO13485 and ISO9001 standards in accordance with GLP/GMP compliant procedures.
+ Analysing, documenting, interpreting, and reporting laboratory data to GMP/GLP standards.
+ Collation and reporting of laboratory data in technical reports.
+ Assist with the drafting of new analytical methods for new products and/or techniques.
+ Maintenance, calibration, documentation and updating quality records for the Analytical Laboratory.
+ Support planned and ad-hoc analytical testing/test method development and support laboratory tasks as and when required.
+ Perform laboratory/OOS investigations with some supervision incorporating problem-solving and troubleshooting for future improvements.
+ Ensure the Analytical labs are maintained as a safe working environment, raising near misses where needed.
+ Experience with a wide range of analytical equipment such as balances and pipettes through to HPLC and ICP-MS.
+ Use of basic (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP, etc.) and advanced (e.g., Waters Empower, ChemStation, Masshunter, Minitab etc.) software packages for ordering goods, data collection, analysis, statistical manipulation etc.
+ Responsible for the ordering of laboratory consumables, chemicals, reagents and equipment when required.
+ Act as support for other R&D groups with laboratory testing where required.
+ Liaise with external vendors via telephone and when on-site including arranging of service contracts as well as the maintenance, servicing, and calibration of equipment.
+ Actively execute improvement ideas (Lean/6S) for the Analytical Laboratory and other owned areas.
+ Support improvements to current Analytical processes including updates to current test and operating procedures.
**Skills & Experience:**
+ Preferably 1-2 years' experience working in Medical Device/Pharmaceutical Industry within an R&D/product development role.

The test will be focused around cell biology, but there will also be a lot of biocompatibility tests such as cytotoxicity, irritation, sensitization and genotoxicity all in line with ISO:10993. Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Scientist or similar
