My client, who is a principal contractor within the rail industry is currently looking to recruit a number of Possession Support Staff on the Sussex route to provide safe, effective, and compliant support for railway possessions and associated works. This role is responsible for supporting possessions, ensuring all strapping and switching activities are completed in accordance with Network Rail standards, and maintaining safe working environments across the rail infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Controller of Site Safety (COSS) ensuring full compliance with all relevant railway safety rules and standards.
- Support the implementation of rail possessions, including preparing worksite entries and exits.
- Carry out and oversee strapping and switching activities as required for possession and isolation works.
- Liaise with Possession and Isolation teams to ensure accurate and timely deployment of safety critical measures.
- Maintain accurate records of all worksite safety arrangements and changes during the course of possession.
- Work closely with the Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Manager, and Possession Support team.
- Attend and contribute to pre-possession briefings and meetings as required.
- Respond to any changes or incidents in a calm, efficient, and compliant manner.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest safety standards and in compliance with Network Rail procedures.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) card.
- Valid COSS (Controller of Site Safety) competency.
- Possession of Valid Possession Support Ticket.
- Proven strapping and switching experience, particularly in electrified areas.
- Full understanding of NR/L2/OHS/019 and other applicable Network Rail standards.
