Purpose of job:
You will be responsible for managing and controlling all aspects of the day-to-day manufacturing operations in Rigid Paper ensuring all areas are co-ordinate to achieve corporate, divisional and site goals achieving budget and KPI targets
Key Accountabilities:
General:
Maximize productivity to ensure that the plant manufactures output to plan (QCD) at best material usage.
Developing, implementing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators ensuring performance is communicated to staff and management.
Liaise with Production Planning to assist in the preparation of an effective and efficient Production Plan for the Department.
Assist, support and develop Team Leaders and working teams to ensure that there is a consistent approach to the work within the department.
Coach operational teams, through problems that occur, build skills within production teams.
Monitor, advise and act upon issues such as machinery downtime and its timely repair
Identifying small improvements to drive efficiency, including preparation of budget proposals for capital expenditures
Continuous improvement – help develop and sustain a CI culture in the plant
Review and plan training needs of direct reports
Supporting and assisting in customer liaison activities
Safety:
Ensure safe working practices are developed and maintained and strive towards a goal of zero injuries.
Ensure all quality and hygiene procedures are always adhered to.
Review and develop of risk assessments of standard operating procedures.
Human Resources:
- Monitoring and controlling the labour requirements to facilitate the efficient running of the department.
- Regular review of performance through daily team meetings and 1 to 1 appraisal. Maintain and develop the plant training matrix.

As a Shift Supervisor you will lead a team to ensure the daily targets are met in a safe and efficient manner, collaborating with other Supervisors and Managers along the way. You will optimise productivity and uphold safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the activities of your department, including liaising with other departmental supervisors and management to ensure a safe and tidy working environment compliant with Company specification to meet Company and client requirements

- Ensure that the relevant efficiency requirements are met for your area, and continuously evaluate and improve production efficiency
- Monitor production output according to specifications
- Submit reports on performance and progress
- Identify issues in efficiency and implement improvements
- Train new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures
- Work closely with the Operations manager on all Thermoforming requirements including resources planning and shift allocation.
- Investigate and resolve problems that arise on a shift
- Perform tool changes and change products as and when necessary.
- Perform inspections of products throughout production to ensure they meet the required quality.
- Induct, train, supervise and motivate the Thermoforming Team and identify training needs
- Mentor all Trainee Setters, reviewing and providing feedback on performance
- Keep the area tidy with “CLEAN AS YOU GO” and complete allocated cleaning tasks daily as outlined in the cleaning rota
- Ensure all protective clothing provided is worn as per the guidance
- Work within company Health and Safety Rules & BRC Standards
- Carry out any other duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed and maintain a professional attitude
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as set out within the employee handbook
- Must have previous experience in Thermoforming within the plastics industry

About the role.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Shift Supervisor to join the busy and active team at our food manufacturing facility in Nantwich, Cheshire. You will help maintain, install and improve the performance of processing equipment across the site. The site makes chilled speciality hand-crafted flatbreads, baguettes, doughballs and ciabattas for customers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys.
Accountabilities:
- Manage the engineering team to ensure delivery of scheduled work and reactive work so that plant availability is optimised and manage technical specifications for ingredients, products, processes & packaging
- Implement agreed training & development plans to meet engineering & production needs. Comply with statutory & Bakkavor Health & Safety requirement, ensures reports work in a safe manner. This will include ownership of dynamic risk assessment process
- Ensure engineering downtime is minimised, accurately logged, and monitor the repair time. Liaise with planning and operations team to allow for PPM to be completed in a timely manner
- Ensure all stock is logged in and out of the stores area highlighting any stock issues to the engineering team manager
- To maintain standards of hygiene and good housekeeping appropriate to a quality food manufacturer. GMP standard of workshops and engineers tool boxes is maintained at a high level

- Experience completing both reactive and planned maintenance activity and small installations
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal

Your Mission:
As the Production Supervisor, you will direct the manufacturing operations across assigned production lines, ensuring that we meet our production volume, cost, and quality targets while adhering to health and safety standards.
