Key Responsibilities: Ensure all cargo is accounted for and looked after whilst in our warehouse. Take care in loading/unloading of freight Supervise and ensure all warehouse operatives are adhering to correct processes and procedures
Main Duties:
- Follow all procedures in the Warehouse Procedure Manual
- Ensure the safe loading/unloading of all freight going through the warehouse
- Relate any shortages/damages to the warehouse supervisor/manager; or failing that the relevant department, ensuring a proper document trail is kept
- Ensure that freight is kept safe and secure whilst in your care
- Ensure that appropriate booking in procedure are adhered to and dims etc are checked and reported back to the relevant department.
- Ensure that all vehicles are handled in a prompt manner
- Ensure that whilst the warehouse is in operation all people in vicinity are wearing hi vis and warehouse staff are wearing safety footwear
- Ensure that all freight leaving the warehouse is signed for upon collection
- Ensure maintenance and upkeep of fork lifts and any other warehouse equipment; completing the daily and weekly forklift checks in their respective folders
- To report any issues in respectful and polite manner to the warehouse supervisor or failing that the relevant department personal
- Maintain a clean and safe warehouse ensuring all rubbish is placed in the skip or respective disposal area
- Ensure forklifts are placed on charge at the end of every day
- This is role is subject to alternating shifts between The Special working conditions: Basildon warehouse core hours of 07.00 – 20.00 Monday to Friday. Early shift 07.00 – 15.30 – Late shift is 11.30 – 20.00. These may be subject to change.
- The company hours of work, are generally 06:00 to 20.00 hrs inclusive Monday to Friday with not more than one hour for lunch (unpaid), however, a flexible approach to working hours is essential due to the nature and needs of the business and you may be called upon to work outside these hours and/or weekends. You may be required to work a Saturday shift on a rota basis.
