Purpose of the Role
Join the Vehicle Motion –Transmission and driveline team as an Electric Powertrain Engineer where you'll collaborate with the Functional Manager and Systems Engineering Team Leader todeliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100+ strategy. Working in the Powertrain components department, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of powertrain components including the eMachines, transmissions & driveline hardware for all Bentley products.
You will coordinate Engineering deliverables, liaising with both the Vehicle Motion Systems Engineering and Functional Engineering structures. In this role you will work cross-functionally within Bentley R&D, VW Group Companies and Tier 1 suppliers to deliver world class electric vehicle products. Reporting into the Functional Manager – Transmission & BEV your main responsibilities include;
- Lead delivery of powertrain hardware validation on assigned vehicle projects including; planning and conducting testing (both in UK and Europe), data analysis and issuing of technical reports.
- Ongoing development of data analysis processes and techniques to support decision making
- Coordination of planning & delivery of System engineering phase (e.g. Validation & Verification) for assigned vehicle projects
- Building and maintaining project delivery timing plans
- Technical liaison with VW Group counterparts for hardware delivery and issue resolution
About the Team
The Transmission & Driveline Engineering team is a small, highly integrated team that forms part of the overall powertrain hardware department. As part of the Vehicle Motion Engineering department within R&D, the Transmission & Driveline team is responsible for the traction motors, transmissions & driveline hardware in all current and future Bentley products.
The team works with stakeholders across the business and across the wider VW Group to deliver projects from concept stages to in-flight development and final sign-off, ensuring the end customer experiences a refined yet rewarding drive.
About you – Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be in an engineering role, ideally with some experience of chassis and/or powertrain systems delivery and have a basic knowledge of Systems Engineering ways of working.
You will be an excellent team player with strong communication and presentation skills who can influence across different functional areas. A positive ‘can do’ attitude is essential.
- Demonstrable experience of Engineering, data analysis and virtual development practices
- Excellent organisational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Project management skills and ability to manage timing plans and track budget to deliver efficiently
- Experience of Systems Engineering processes within an automotive engineering environment
- An Engineering degree or equivalent experience
